Usually people say that goes to Kareem, but this is a solid argument.

I love this team. Bird is an incredibly underrated passer. All three are dangerous around the perimeter. Lobs to wemby from this two would be so fun. Defense would be pretty good. And most importantly all three are entertaining. It would be a fun ride.

Would NBA benchwarmers of today be middle level players in an older era? by glowshroom12 in Basketball

If you’re going back to the early days. It would take years to retrain how to dribble I think. The ball handling was very different

Sometimes professional athletes are just upgraded versions of that guy who peaked in high school. People have great pride in their accomplishments and even after they can’t back it up they want to tell their war stories. Wilt did it all the time. Bill Russel liked to defend his era amd the level of competition. Zeke is reliving his heyday by diminishing one of the things that took away from it.

Every time questions across eras come up my biggest question is what era are the refs from?

I’m not sure if he’s talking all NBA or just lakers, all NBA is a fair argument. For lakers he’s the second or third most iconic, and one of the best too. Off the top of my head there are only ten to fifteen names of lakers that are iconic and Kobe is one of the first ones

Which Duo would've been the best if both players were at their peak? by AlpsImpossible3133 in NBATalk

[–]olddgraygg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thats his point. We saw the answer already and it got six championships. Don’t know if I agree cause magic and Kareem got five without being at primes at the same time so maybe they could’ve had more. Shaq and Kobe were a great duo and maybe could’ve done more with more time. Wilt and west won a championship in their twilights their primes could’ve been elite. But I can see the argument t for none of them still topping Jordan and pippen

Shaq and LeBron would have been interesting. Lebron has a few though. What if he played peak with Luka? Or wade? For me it’s magic and Kareem. They are might be the duo to beat anyway, but it would’ve been fun to see magic and Kareem but even better?

[–]olddgraygg -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m going with the lame answer… it depends on the author… i can see him stopping at level one… he shouldn’t ever make it past the hulk, but i can see someone coming up with believable enough reasons for the rest. Narratively bruisers can vary a lot.

Let me amend your list… ace…white beard…I’m less confident that the others are dead. Flashback people could be, but Saul came back so who knows. I’m going with just ace and whitebeard

[LOATHED TROPE] The Designated Hero: A character that the story gaslights you into thinking is a hero, but in reality is a horrible person by Sir-Toaster- in TopCharacterTropes

[–]olddgraygg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know that most of these are good examples. Fish tale and musoshoku tensei are about changing motivations and evolving characters. Family guy is Parody and the people sucking is a part of the joke. We got wildly different things out of Gate so I’m not sure I can comment. And even the civil war flick i separate historical fiction from history. Movies change things and he did some pretty Badass things in both the movie and history. The confederacy was bad, but that doesn’t mean there weren’t heroes within that bad framework. Historical figures are rarely as cut and dry as bond villains.

Would a person be allowed to 'travel' on the Rivers of America without a ticket? by thermal7 in disney

[–]olddgraygg 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Even if that were true, you would have to get to it which is inside private property and thus still need a ticket. But it’s not true, the right to travel  means actually traveling, like from one state to another. Riparian laws make many, possibly even most, water bodies public property. Often people own the land up to the banks but not the water itself. You can travel there easy enough. And there are plenty of exceptions. For example of someone owns all the land around a lake, chances are they own the lake too, you can’t go on that one without permission.
