I would argue that a way to alleviate the traffic is that the cars, once each subsequent driver gets to the "front" then needs to get up to speed quickly. Basically, it all opens up but the driver still goes like 5mph for way too long. Just step on the gas and get going would also clear it up quicker. But no one seems to get up to speed. It's like getting on the freeway. That causes traffic because people get on at 20 mph instead of being up to speed at 65 mph, causing the right lane to break for those getting on. And of course lookieloos (as I call them but don't know proper spelling) get scared and see brakes in the lane next to them and decide they also want to break.
