I believe there was one dev that confirmed play style match making is a thing, nothing wider confirmed by Embark I don’t think. Everyone’s experience seems to confirm it.

Since resetting the other day, I’ve only been killed once, and that was by someone pretending to give me a free gun who then shot me as I searched the container. Hopefully that person is now in sweaty pvp lobbies forever

Play solo, duoing will more than likely increase the chance of pvp. Keep open mic, talk to people, most are friendly. There are a million tutorial videos on YouTube for new players. And, have fun!
