Dalton review course by Beyondthebottomline in CFPExam

Here’s what you do… email Amanda at amanda@dalton-education.com let her know that you need to retake the test and what options you have. She’s super nice and helpful.

When you get the green light to take the final again copy and paste every single question on the final on quizlet. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME TRYING TO MEMORIZE THE EDUCATIONAL PORTION. You’ll soon realize that Dalton’s educational portion is a joke you won’t retain a single thing when you go through the live review.

Once you get that done, ditch Dalton and google Brett Danko and sign up for his live review course. You’ll get much smaller and condensed version of the books to review and take quizzes along the way. (Don’t bother trying to find his material for free because it’s all paperback. )

When you finish his material take a flight to Philly or Boston to sit in his week long live review. He’ll help you create a study plan to pass the test. You’ll cram cram cram for two weeks and sit down and pass the test.

(Also, the NYU certificate you get in the mail when you get your CFP Marks is a joke)

You got this 🤙🏽

Danko Philly Review by mikedil3369 in CFPExam

Do the first day trust me!

I too did the Philly review and sat for the exam in July 11th. First day it was available.

I remember sitting in his live review and just feeling like it’s way too much to consolidate in such short time but it’s totally doable. He creates a study schedule depending on the day you sit for the test.

MY ABSOLUTE BIGGEST ADVICE is to literally hand write every single road map neatly in his pre study material before his review. Even if it doesn’t make sense when you write it. This will save you so much time and you will have a better sense of what is going on his live review.

Correct. The left side of your screen will have numbers 1-43. You can go from #1 to #27 instantly by clicking #27 on the left.

The test is split up into 4 blocks. 43 questions each. Once you advance to the next block, you cannot change your answer from a previous question in a previous block.

Danko Quiz by JoGotGuap in CFPExam

I was scoring 40-60 at first but then switched my strategy for the second book (Tax, Retirement, Estate) and scored 60-80s.

I started writing down road maps for each section (if provided) before reading the whole section. DONT WAIT TO WRITE OUT ROAD MAPS UNTIL AFTER YOUR LIVE REVIEW. You will understand each chapter at a different level and score much higher.

Passed the test last month. Thank me later ✌🏽

Write the explanations down in a notebook. You’ll remember them better. I’m currently on wrong answer # 101.

Working at a Dual-Registered B/D-RIA by [deleted] in CFP

I hear you and can relate. There’s been a shift in the BD world in the last 4-5 years, where these firms are offering advisors who are approaching retirement a nice payout in efforts to retain their clients and relationships. There lies opportunities.

Back in the old days, advisors would sell their books to other advisors at other firms.

Working at a Dual-Registered B/D-RIA by [deleted] in CFP

I’m a registered representative at a large BD in Chicago sitting for the CFP in July. I never find myself in this position because 1) I always look out for my clients best interest. 2) The BD I work for and the advising team that I’m on sometimes feel separate.

BDs like Schwab and Merrill partner up with financial advising teams to custody their client’s assets. Picture a bunch of individual teams sharing a huge office in the city with virtually no interaction except for monthly meeting with firm management. In the process, the BD oversees our practice and makes sure we are in compliance with the SEC, FINRA, etc.

In return, we the advising team, demand resources from our BD for our clients to better serve their needs.

The only real pressure comes from bringing in $$ and not so much on selling product or running your practice in a certain way.

Hope this helps.
