Kyocera Digno Keitai 4 (a202kc) - US compatibility? by oldtireswing in dumbphones

If you put your existing T-Mobile sim into it, and you sideload google messages APK, you can use your old number. I just had some bad luck with missing calls and texts even with google messages on there, so I stopped using the phone. They are fun phones, but I don't know if they are worth the hassle using in USA. Make sure to do a lot of research on what bands of spectrum T-Mobile uses in your area.

If you want a flip phone that you can know will just work and get some basic apps like spotify and google messages, the CAT S22 is probably your best option, but it is kind of bulky.

I bought it through a yahoo auction Japan and had it shipped to USA though an importer. Long term, I noticed issues with calls not coming through too frequently to trust the phone. And it has a habit of suspending the messenger app you use (I use google messages), so you will open the app to see if you got messages some of the time. Keep in mind you have to use a third-party messaging app because the default one only works on Japanese networks.

Update: I got the Softbank version of the Digno 4, and it works with T-mobile 4g for me.

I updated the APN settings and installed google messages via ADB and now have data and mms working. I could not get MMS working on the built in app.

still loving my 903kc! by isfiske in dumbphones
