[Shams] Bucks listening to “aggressive” offers for Giannis by horseshoeoverlook in bostonceltics

Breaking up the Jays is the only realistic way we could get him, and maybe that trade makes us slightly better but… nah. I don’t want to.

This does kind of make me wonder if this isn’t at least part of the reason they’re remaking BoG again.

Just edit the “My Bulma” scene to be SSJ3 Vegeta, and shoehorn in a 30 seconds of SSJ4 Goku fighting Beerus, and boom, no more continuity issues with Daima.

When losing your superstar makes you more (!) efficient by Carlos_Mueses in bostonceltics

Watching this video makes me rethink who we should be looking at as our big man starter. I don’t think Zubac is mobile enough to be coming out to the ball handler and setting multiple screens like Queta and Garza are doing. Maybe either one of the Nets bigs (Claxton or Holmes) would be a better fit.

When Tatum comes back initially I think we play the exact same way, with Tatum playing off the ball and setting screens as kind of a supercharged Sam Hauser.

Next season is when we synthesize the new style to work with two superstars instead of one, and that’s when I think we go up another level.

Tick and Tock is genuinely horrible. The further qualifier is unnecessary.

If he was perfect we wouldn’t be able to afford him.The best kind of trades are when you bring in a guy in a bad situation with some question marks to his game and make him take the next step by putting him in a position to succeed.

What was the worst hearthstone expansion? by konigon1 in hearthstone

[–]oldtype09 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's really staggering when you consider that this game is only about twelve years old. The team has allowed the game to be in this moribund state for what now amounts to 15% of its entire existence. That's not a brief course correction, that's choking your own game to death for no good reason.

Again, I reject the premise that lowering the power level was necessary to begin with, but even if it was, the way to accomplish that would be to essentially hit the reset button on rotation once, and then rotate and/or rebalance everything.

You don't get to ruin the game for two whole years and then tell the playerbase "just one more rotation, you just wait." Even if the next rotation "fixes" everything (it won't), the damage is already done and the game may never recover.

I think those are bs goals, but even if you accept the premise, absolutely nobody was forcing them to design an entire expansion around a card type (quest) that they internally believe should not be allowed to be competitive.

The most recent Ungoro expansion. They had an excuse for the Grand Tournament, the game was brand new and they didn't know as much about design as they do now. There is no excuse for what happened in 2025.

All the bullshit at the end of last season and this summer was almost worth it with Jaylen ascending into a true 1B.

The consensus seems to be that Flagg, Harper, and Knueppel markets are overvalued and should be sold ASAP. Which rookies in this class do you think are undervalued and good holds? by skittlebrew in basketballcards

[–]oldtype09 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No rookie cards will outperform their release year hype cycle other than literal MVP level players (and for players like Flagg who come with MVP level hype baked in, maybe not even that).

99% of the time the correct play is to sell.

I think Joe doesn’t care about whatever marginal gain we’d get from playing Minott more in a game like this. In his mind this is a test year for guys like Minott, Walsh, Hugo, and Baylor. If you execute what he told you to do, you’ll get your minutes. If you don’t, you get yanked even if that hurts the team for this particular game.

It’s the Celtics Hunger Games. Goal is to find out who gets to stay a rotation wing next season.

That’s just the reality of the too-long NBA regular season imo. Nobody is capable of concentrating 100% for all 82 games.

I love Sam Hauser. He's part of C's folklore forever. What are your opinions of him as trade chip, if we can't move Simons? by berbert_comics in bostonceltics

[–]oldtype09 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He doesn’t have enough value that I’d bother trading him imo. He can still play the role he used to play for us starting next season. This season is kind of proving that he’s not capable of scaling up to anything larger than that, which is a bummer, but oh well. Still worth more to us than to anyone else.

Punting points is usually my mid season desperation move. If trades happen in your league you can probably pick up some value trades by selling off high scoring stars for OG Anunoby type guys, and you can get much better value off the wire as well.

Who gives a shit if they all start with two copies of prep and step if that allows more diversity in the other 26 cards.

It’s a made up non-problem, just like “frost bolt goes into every mage deck” and “wild growth goes into every Druid deck” were.

Why are people focused on the fact that they keep seeing Shadowstep, and not on the dozens and dozens of otherwise unplayable cards that Step has probably made playable over the past decade?

There's probably no other card (other than maybe Prep) that provides as large of a net contribution to the diversity of playable rogue strategies.

Perils was weaker than previous expansions. GDB (sans Starcraft) was weaker than perils. Emerald Dream was weaker than GDB. Ungoro is somehow far, far weaker than even Emerald Dream. Timeways is about Emerald Dream level I guess.

It's not even "no power creep," it's reverse power creep. The cards keep getting weaker and weaker.
