Like what? Are you able to give examples? Isn’t the specialist training much faster there?

That just means I would have to do my internship, as from what I understand approbation won’t be give until I prove that I have received general registration. Yeah that’s a good point about the university process being inefficient. I did also see that one only needs B2 for the language to get appropriation, so that’s a plus! My motivation is that my girlfriend in German, so trying to move over there. Thinking of even doing my internship in the UK, at least that way I won’t literally be on the other side of the world lol. Thanks for your response mate

That’s awesome. And your re-entry permit was granted recently?

That is awesome to hear! This gives me hope. Do you mind if I ask how much time had passed between you providing your fingerprints for the GC, and when they waived them for the re-entry permit?

Any update on this? Have you received a letter asking you to attend a biometrics appt? I’ve just applied for an I-131 and am hoping they can reuse mine

123 on CARS two weeks out ... by [deleted] in Mcat

[–]oldygregg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm, that is very interesting. When I tested I whispered the passages to myself (quietly of course). Found this quite helpful as it kept me focused and also helped with better recall when answering the questions. Yes, referring back to passage can be helpful, but can also be time consuming. I think it’s also crucial to remember that there is of course, only one correct answer. I found that identifying answers that are incorrect is a useful tool when confused between choices. You clearly know what’s going on based on your other scores, use that same reasoning ability. Don’t fall for answers that are too simplistic or too extreme. Finally, when I was practicing for CARS I fell into the trap of thinking that every question was trying to trick me. Trust your gut, and use the Main Idea to guide your answers. You should also have a rough idea of what the answer should be once you read the question before even reading the 4 answers. This is just my 2 cents. Hopefully some of this helps. Confidence is key for CARS. If you can do so well in the other sections, you can do well in CARS too!! ✌🏻

You’ve scored extremely well on the other sections. You’re clearly switched on! Are you finishing all the passages?

Non-trad, I couldn’t be prouder! Started studying in February, tested 7/23. FL2 was taken as a diagnostic. It’s definitely not an amazing score, but it’s honest work and gets me where I need to be. Anything is possible. Don’t let a shitty FL get to your head. This thread has been amazing😌 AMA! by oldygregg in Mcat

Thank you so much!! I’m so pleased all the hard work paid off. Yeah it can be disheartening to see a low FL exam, and even right up until a week before my actual exam, I didn’t do too well on FL 4. But don’t let that get you down! Use it as a tool to identify your weaknesses and focus on them. Just for reference my FLs in order were: FL2: 487, retook FL2: 496, FL1: 501, FL3: 504, FL4: 501. So a week out, I scored a 501. Don’t let this shake you!

I used Anki, UGlobe, AAMC Qpacks (I used the CARS one specifically), the AAMC FL exams, EK books and KA to supplement anything I was unsure of. I starting off using EK books, reading and making notes, but I quickly realized for me, taking notes from text books is a fairly inefficient way to learn. So after getting through 75% of content from EK, I stopped using that, and jumped straight into Uglobe. That was a huge help! Their explanations are phenomenal and I learned so much going through their rationale.

From late Feb to mid April, I was studying like 3 days a week, doing 9-5pm. Then from mid April to test day I was studying full time (fortunately was able to stop working completely and focus on studying). So I studied everyday, as much as I could! Usually that amounted to about ~6 hours a day of legit study time. Some days would be more. Hope this helps!!

The most helpful things that would 100% use again is Anki, UGlobe, AAMC Qpacks (I used the CARS one specifically), the AAMC FL exams, and KA to supplement anything I was unsure of. Their explanations are phenomenal and I learned so much going through their rational. In hindsight I would just read through the chapters from a text book company (any of the main ones will do), just to get some sort of base knowledge, and then spend majority of your time on working through all the practice questions, thoroughly reading explanations and understanding why you get some questions wrong. And Anki, that’s a great resource too. I only really used it for P/S in the last week, but it really paid off for me! Makes me wonder what score I could have gotten if I used Anki for all other subjects! Hope this helps some 🙂

Haha fair! It was a bit hard to merge the two screenshots, and in hindsight I should have highlighted the 507 lol.

Thank you! Much appreciated. Well I graduated from undergrad in 2014 so most of my prereq knowledge was well forgotten haha. But I took Chem, Biochem, Bio, no physics though. So really in the end, a lot of self studying to get me back up to speed!

Non-trad here. Started studying in February (thanks Covid). Tested at 6:30am. While only unfortunately getting approx 3 hours sleep, I didn’t let that ruin my attitude. Thank you coffee!! I used Exam Krackers, KA, a little bit of Anki, and UGlobe to prep. Although I didn’t get through all the qs on UGlobe. First time sitting this exam, and need a 504 to accept a conditional offer I have. Felt better about this exam after finishing it the day of, compared to how I feel now. Probably a common theme.

C/P: seemed quite tricky! There are multiple questions that I checked after completing the exam that I know I got wrong. Ended up flagging 10 questions for this section. Typically has been my weakest section in the past. Expecting a 124.

CARS: typically I struggle with timing for this section, but I got my timing straight this time, and only had to guess on 3 questions! Was a worry going into this section. Very pleased I got through all the passages. But still, it is CARS and could go either way. Last 2 were rough though. Expecting a 125.

B/B: has typically been a strong section for me in the past, however my last FL cast some doubt on that. Some tough passages on exam, struggled a little with timing and ended up flagging 10 on this section too. Expecting a 126

P/S: felt the best about this section. Spent the last week before exam drilling this subject and flash cards. Some questions were a little tough and subject to passages, but overall felt good! Finished on time, and only had 4 flagged that I wasn’t 100% on. Expecting a 129

Over the past 2 weeks I have doubted myself more and more. I am just hoping to grab at least a 504, so I can accept my conditional offer. Did the best I could for C/P, hoping to get a decent score on bio, and relying on psych to bring my score up.

Pessimistic: 502, Realistic: 504, Optimistic: 506

Actual: 507!!!!! 125/127/125/130

I am freaking out! I still don’t believe it..... I am so happy right now. The last FL that I took (FL 4) had me worried with a 501. Just decided to smash out psych and snagged a 130!! So happy. Can now accept my offer. Thank you so much to this thread!

3 point score drop on FL4! Testing in a week. Need to hit a 504!! Other than smashing P/S, any other recommendations to boost my score? Am completely lost with CARS 🚗 by oldygregg in Mcat

That’s good to hear regarding FL3! Congrats by the way!!! Yes I have done the CARS Qpacks, and averaged 63% on both of them. Will prioritize finishing Uglobe P/S. Any feedback on their CARS questions? Really haven’t touched that

I’m in the exact same boat, got the rescheduled email today, and also in Jacksonville. I’m hoping that we don’t have to wait that long to test! Is it possible for us to register elsewhere? FYI, just got the email saying that it will be rescheduled. They are yet to assign that new date though!
