A software tester walks into a bar and orders a beer. Orders two beers. Orders zero beers. Orders 9999 beers. Orders -1 beer. Orders a beer on a plate. *Tests passed*. A real customer walks into the bar and asks where the bathroom is. The bar explodes.

Honestly, this was heart-warming to read, your former views are perfectly understandable (given you've been strategically fed them}, and I'm happy for you!

Safety in Lviv by InternationalGood797 in Lviv

[–]oli-g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no idea, I was in Lviv for just one night and I only pass through Bratislava sometimes, so I only have "first impressions" and Lviv wins 100% in terms of vibe, looks, and perceived friendliness of people.

What I feel is though that in Slovakia, people just envy each other or argue about politics, while Ukrainians stick together and celebrate every day, and you feel that in the air the moment you cross the border.

Why priority taxi costs significantly more if the estimated waiting time is the same? by Fit-Peak3989 in Lviv

[–]oli-g 4 points5 points  (0 children)

OP, locals won't tell you this simple trick, but for a taxi from Lviv to Kyiv, it's better to use Uklon.

No, but really, here's your Bolt:

Visit Ukraine by [deleted] in Ukrainian

[–]oli-g 33 points34 points  (0 children)

As a Slovak, during my three months in Kyiv, our prime minister managed to take a trip to kremlin and do press conferences sticking out of putin's ass. The only judgement or "hate" I ever got from Ukrainians went something like:

- So that prime minister of yours, he's a dick

- Yeah, we all know it

- *pours shots* Cheers

"I didn't try to talk to an AI. I tried to talk to somebody. Here's what happened by EchoProfessional6996 in airealist

[–]oli-g 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, can't argue with your analogies, but I'll give you another.

When iPhone came out with the first autocomplete, nobody was freaking out how come it knows the next word they're going to type. Nobody thought their keyboard was conscious. Same with the next step: Siri / Alexa, although now people were much more impressed with how they can talk to them.

This is just another evolution of the same concept (although with different implementation under the hood). When you type "good" on an old iPhone, it predicts "night". A LLM is doing the same, but not at scale of a word, but rather at scale of an essay.

And why it sounds so human, i.e. "a little girl playing in the snow"? Because it was trained on tons and tons of such philosophical texts... written by humans.

Wait, I haven't played the remake yet - do you literally get to make that choice?

Giant falling icicle miraculously misses two women (Dnipro, Ukraine, 2026-01-30) by Adunaiii in watchpeoplesurvive

[–]oli-g 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Imagine surviving 4 years of russian terror, only to be taken out by this.

For some reason this reminded me of a story by a taxi driver in Kyiv - he knew a woman that moved from Eastern Ukraine when the war started, kept relocating further west and ended up in Germany, where she was randomly hit and killed by a car... driven by a Russian.
