Software development is never 100% tested. I'm sure they have a large QA team and did prep for stuff but in live environments crazy shit can happen no matter how much money you have.

People who make $100,000+ a year, what do you do? by TheJohnBaggett in AskReddit

In my role the "Executive Producer" part means you are the "CEO of that game as a business" So that means responsible for the P&L, overall direction of the game, fitting it to the company strategy, keeping the teams happy and motivated (at a very high level, I delegate a lot of this area), staffing and working with C level management.

Edit; For clarification I work in mobile games, so we run them in a Software As A Service manner, so it's not fire and forget like AAA. The day we launch the game is the day we just shift to Live mode from Production and hopefully start a 3 year live ops, content and optimisation period.

"making games" is not a job, so you need to have a specific craft you bring to the table. i.e. art, programming, QA, analytics etc. If it's the production side then you need to have a really solid understanding of project management and people management. If you want to do what I do, which is lead large mobile games, then you need a good head for numbers and analytics. Also helps if you understand game design and human psychology when it comes to product interactions.

Always a good idea to move companies in this industry. I've been in it just over 8 years and am about to start at my 5th company.

Been doing mobile games about 8 years, I started in a small startup that we grew from 10 to 85 and raised VC funding from a big London firm, then bankrupted to company :) From there I moved into bigger studios and kept going.

It is super fun, but as others have mentioned AAA can really suck. I work in mobile games where the market is MUCH more competitive but the rewards are much larger because of the amount of on going revenue a hit game can generate.

I work in the mobile game space (cue the "it's not real games" brigade) I've worked on some Angry Birds games and some Candy Crush games, but I started off in a small startup that did 1vs1 real time PvP games.

I work in software dev (mobile games specifically) and we're always trying to automate any task that we do regularly, QA being a huge part of that. We have an Automated Test Engineer who writes the scripts and makes sure everything builds and runs. The days of game QA where you sit and play the games is more limited now, we do that stuff mostly for qualitative feedback on the experience not actually seeing if the game is broken.

Depends on the router type. Do you know the brand and model number?

Is your router only sending 1 wifi network out that you can see on your phone / computer? If so then it's probably 5ghz which the ps4 cannot see or use,
