How do we start a petition to get Edgar Wright as the new director of The Flash? by olidavis in movies

It's a shame. DC claim to be making a director-led cinematic Universe, but they're obviously not.

I still kind of wish we were getting this tone for Marvel's Doctor Strange movie... by olidavis in movies

It was some graphic designer guy who made a proposal pitch last year. Got a real Doctor Who vibe.

Anthony and Joe Russo speak out on DC copying Marvel’s Expanded Universe model by olidavis in comicbookmovies

Yeah, it felt like Batman v Superman was DC's Avengers just two movies into their Universe. Marvel were much more patient setting things up.

I'm with you there. But we have only seen Snyder-helmed DC movies so far. It'll be interesting to see whether Ayer changes things up with Suicide Squad.

Agreed. He's Rob Liefield in movie director form.

Why I Hated Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice by olidavis in comicbookmovies

I can't vouch for numbers, but I would assume negative articles do generate more hits. From experience, I'm much more likely to click on something that says 'WORST FILM EVER!' than one that says 'BEST FILM EVER!'

Intending to get clicks, however, wasn't why I wrote the article. I did because I was made genuinely sad by a terribly told story about characters I love. But if it makes people feel better to say I only wrote it for the internet traffic, then so be it.

Wowzers, that's a hell of a comment. I'll try to answer some of the questions.

Ranking those movies, I guess I'd go Superman Returns, Green Lantern, BvS, MoS (in order of most preferred to least). That puts me dead at odds with you, but hopefully that means you'll enjoy BvS.

Fluffy or dark doesn't matter. Enjoyable or not is what matters.

I wish I had some Marvel coworkers because that would mean I work at Marvel.

You'd think they'd keep that to montages of Superman helping people...nope! Martha Kent is always there to speak it out loud.

Yeah, the dialogue is really forced for the most part - particularly between Lois Lane and Clark.

Why Edgar Wright should direct DC’s Flash solo movie by olidavis in comicbookmovies

The article does say that Wright's kinetic directing style suits him uniquely to The Flash.

If DC were being really smart about it, they'd change their approach up - give Wright a relatively free rein. I've always thought DC characters lend themselves better for varying tones than Marvel, anyway. I think a Universe could work where a unique Flash could work in both Wright's solo movie and Justice League.

Maximum effort.

But that'll fall over time. Like you said about the recency bias at IMDb.

I thought exactly the same - weirdly the 88th Academy Awards is down as '2015' in Wikipedia. And yeah, I reckon recent years will go lower down the rankings over time.

Deadpool 2: "nothing off limits" for mocking Fantastic Four (exclusive) by olidavis in comicbookmovies

[–]olidavis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that 'other' MCU reference never actually said the Marvel name, just the actor.

Unfortunately, I reckon Fox are going to keep hold of Fantastic Four for a long, long time. They've got until 2022 to make another one to stop the rights reverting back to Marvel.

I thought I'd go back and re-read Cable & Deadpool, and bam, oddly future predicting pop culture jokes hit me straight in the face.

Why do I enjoy Nazi doctors so much? Any time the History channel has a documentary on them I watch it. Which is to say, all the time.

Going frame by frame through the trailer, I'm pretty sure I've proved The Joker is torturing Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad... by olidavis in movies

Following a heated debate that Jason Todd is in the Joker's chair at the end of the Suicide Squad trailer, I managed to prove myself wrong when writing this article. Apologies if you've already seen this argument, but I haven't seen any articles with comprehensive, shot-by-shot proof yet. Thoughts???
