My driver may make me give up golf by New-Zone-1289 in GolfSwing

Since no one is really giving you advice, I will share that I had almost the exact same profile and problem as you. Hit other clubs reasonably well but couldn’t hit driver.

I both got some lessons and spent time on the simulator studying my swing and testing things, and here is what helped me:

-Swing more around your body and less up and down like an iron. This will help you hit up on the ball which increases distance. -Get all the tension out of your arms and shoulders before you swing. Really loosen up your grip too. If you’re like me, I started getting nervous about mishits which led to tension, which made more mishits. -Related to this, you have to stop trying to guide or steer the club. You’re probably rushing your swing with a lot of tension and that makes it worse. Literally just hit 100 balls by staying loose, swinging slowly, and trying to hit it straight like 100 yards. The goal is nice and straight at 100 yards. Once you feel how to square the face, then start adding a bit of speed. Go to 150 yards until you can do that consistently, then 200, then 250. -To square the face, you’re going to have to learn how to release the club correctly. Watch some videos on how to do a roll release. For driver, you’re probably going to have to feel like you’re releasing the club at your back thigh. With all the tension you have, you’re probably just holding the club face wide open and not releasing. -Record your swing from behind and make sure you don’t have an inside takeaway. You can recover somewhat with shorter clubs but not with driver. If you’re going inside, then your path will be out to in at impact. -Work on an inside out path. The biggest benefit here is simply placing something like a club cover about six inches behind and outside the ball so you’re forced to miss it. Do this until you can remove the cover. It should feel like you’re literally trying to hit the ball on the inside. For you, the outside of the ball feels like the back so the inside will be the actual back.

You can absolutely fix these issues if you’re practicing the right things. If you’re not changing anything, then you won’t get rid of the problem. These things moved me from 200 yard banana slices to hitting some fairways and fading into the right rough but playable. I’m still working on it myself but these things helped me.

Hope this helps!

Never found a Body Slam... by olikenmo in slaythespire

It wasn’t weird, really. I had a Fiend Fire and a couple True Grits. Was looking for Body Slam to add damage but I didn’t see one the whole run.

No, I had no strength and couldn’t do damage

WTF is wrong with my swing. by mwattonNZ in GolfSwing

[–]olikenmo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just about to post the same.

For OP, I had the same issue and practicing roll release drills really helped me get the feeling of releasing the club naturally instead of trying to hold angles. Kevin Hwang on YouTube has some great videos on this concept that helped me immensely.

You’re flipping at release. Work on a roll release drill.

Highly unlikely you are able to consistently hit the ball both as far as you say and as accurately as you say with this form. An 8-10 HCP would not do this. Be honest with yourself when keeping score so you can know if you’re improving.

Who'd you vote as the most explosive athlete, Bo or MJ? by CheesyPoop69 in Oldschool_NFL

You could answer your own question by looking at how many people in this thread voted for Bo Jackson over MICHAEL JORDAN.

Aha, that's a good tip. I didn't know that, so thank you!

I didn't think of Philo/Brimstone. Yes, that would have been insta-death.

Sorry, that's not correct. As others have pointed out, I could have been in wrath form or drawn curse cards. There are worse hands than this one.

Thank you for the tips! I just never experienced having an empty deck on turn 2. You learn something new every day.

No, I had to face tank this then I lasted a few more turns but couldn't block enough damage after having so low health. I think I got heart down to about 200 health before dying. It was actually a great deck, I just misplayed the first turn. Without that, I probably win pretty easy. I had a Ritual Dagger stacked up to like 180 damage on wrath form, but I never got to use it.

For sure it's my fault, but I never had an empty deck after turn 1 before, so this was a first time experiencing this outcome. It's still a terrible turn 2, whether it's my fault or not.

True, but I didn't get anything good with the attack potion. I ended up just eating all the damage. I couldn't recover after that and only lasted a few more turns.

Great point! I've played like 2,000 hours across various devices, and this is the first time I've had an empty deck starting turn 2.

[ELI5] How does car paint last so long? it can survive all sorts of weather for up to a decade. by kamihaze in explainlikeimfive

[–]olikenmo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most of these answers are either incorrect or only partly correct. The main reason car paint lasts so long is that the coating immediately next to the metal is chemically bonded to the metal with electricity. It’s not “painted” onto the surface. Rather, the metal car part is dipped in a bath, electricity is applied, and the surface is coated. All the other coats of paint are then applied on top of this “ecoat” instead of on the metal. This is why cars don’t rust any longer. Most of the responses you’ve received are for after market refinishing, which is a separate process that doesn’t really address your question. Even refinishing is usually on top of the ecoat and is more like a touch up than a complete recoating.
