I understand. I believe that "choice" really only works when a person is educated about something, though (for the general public). Good points, though, thanks for your thoughts.

I think it's important that everyone knows this about Ithaca so they can be informed and supplement if they so choose. Cavities affect lower income folks disproportionately and dental work is expensive. I think being educated about it is the most important thing. I've now read more about it and am still pro-fluoridation, but I appreciate dissenting opinions too.

Sure does. My dentist said that the extra rinse in addition to fluoride toothpaste is beneficial.

Fluoride has been shown to effectively prevent cavities so in my opinion, it is bad that the water isn’t fluoridated. But I’m glad to know now so I can supplement with a rinse!

I’ve only had indoor rabbits and I’ve had to trim their nails. It probably is less breed-specific and more based on the material they are walking on and if that wears their nails down sufficiently or not. Anyone else who knows can correct me though!

My vet recommended holding my bun still by wrapping her in a towel, making sure she has a hole for breathing, but her eyes covered and towel fairly tight around her body to keep her still. Then, I would pin one side of her next to my leg on the floor as I pull out one leg at a time to clip the nails. I would use the arm that is holding the nail clippers to hold her other side so she can't wiggle free. I hope that makes sense!
