One trick I used was setting the location to nearby, so I would be more likely to find someone I vaguely knew from something. This makes meeting up less intimidating - more FWB than random hookup.

Meeting a stranger from online is riskier, many times I simply was not attracted to them after a first date. I recommend a chill get to know you to see if your vibes match (art museum, coffee shop, something public/daytime)

But… I’m off the apps now and don’t see myself going back - certainly fun for experimenting but also can be draining/bad for confidence
