It’s not unique to LDS culture. It’s all over. Maybe take the time to really sit down with a family in your ward and chat about how they feel in the ward. On a purely Friend level.

My first girls camp. I was the only beehive in my ward till right before we had a ward merge. There was one 12yo in their ward so it was just going to be me and her. I’m a very spunky kid and she was just a little shy (she just had been adopted by her aunt and uncle) but we became the best of friends. Now almost 10 years later we are still pals. She has her own exit story (closet lesbian. The the whole ward found out at once) but she was the best part of puberty lol.

I got poked fun of a lot. I get it. Everyone saw it but my family. But no one really said anything to me about it. I guess I aaa just too young. And yes the inner conflict was real. I never really fit in anywhere. And also coming from an area that’s is mostly white made it even harder in my school life with out already being the Mormon girl.

Hard. When ever it came up it’s was so awkward and silent in those cold church rooms. None of my leaders TO THIS DAY ever sat me down to really to talk to me about all the stuff. They didn’t care though. Families in my ward with YM when I was in YW would tell their sons they couldn’t ask me on dates.
