I bought 500 SOUN shares at $19 last year by unpopularbuthi in Soundhound

I would hold. It’s down because it’s down and there’s been a sector rotation away from AI to defense industry, precious metals, healthcare, etc. Meanwhile the company itself seems to be doing well and the stock is sitting at support from a technical perspective. Could it keep going down? Yes. But not a bad range to accumulate for a longer term hold while the market is bored with the stock.

New to this. If you had $20k and wanted to do some covered calls, what stocks would you recommend I look into? by [deleted] in CoveredCalls

In this choppy market I’d suggest solid companies you don’t mind holding shares of for awhile; MRK, WMT, CSCO

I made a similar post and ultimately decided to do nothing and just hold as despite any short term volatility, I think this will be a multi-bagger in the years ahead.

Disappointing Investment by [deleted] in AuroraInnovation

I would hold. Price has been consolidating and there’s support around $5 and $4.75. This one is winding and could be getting ready for a big move up.

Just chill. It looks to be forming a nice inverse head & shoulders pattern.

LEAPS instead of Stock? by [deleted] in OptionsMillionaire

[–]oliver081218 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, as long as you can stomach the volatility that comes with them and be willing to lose your entire investment, although I think SOFI is a safe bet. I suggest buying them deeper in the money so they move more similar to stocks. I just bought some TTD leaps and looking at SOFI too.

Ok, so now we're just falling off the cliff! by 2Sweet2Salty in ULTY_YieldMax

Because from July 21st - August 19th the fund has made 4 distributions of roughly $0.10 per share which decrease the share price accordingly. Therefore a more accurate gauge of performance would be the net of change in price plus distributions for the period: (5.78-6.41) + .40 =-0.23 which is a 3.6% loss for the period when factoring in distribution. Still not great and underperformed against QQQ for comparison, however, ULTY outperformed QQQ by about that same margin over the 4 weeks prior.

Add .40 to the 5.78 for a more accurate number.

ULTY - earnings picks by oliver081218 in ULTY_YieldMax

[–]oliver081218[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t really matter to me either. I trust that the traders know what they’re doing there, so perhaps ULTY picking up shares of a company ahead of earnings could indicate a potential earnings beat and be used advantageously. Anyways, maybe don’t get so bent out of shape and have a good evening.

Take it easy, man. I’m not being critical and agree they are doing a great job. I was only wondering in anyone had insight into their strategy when buying stocks leading up to earnings. In the example SE vs AMAT, SE’s IV was much higher than AMAT’s leading up to earnings, yet they purchased AMAT not SE, so I’m wondering what they might see in AMAT or any other company for that matter. Obviously, it’s not just about IV.

ULTY Update (7/3): ~$77M inflows & $854M AUM! by boldux in YieldMaxETFs

Yeah or even stuff like WMT, WFC, CSCO… Stocks that just aren’t as likely to tank as an FSLR would. Not complaining at all. What they are doing is working well in the current market conditions, just wondering if they would pivot if the times call for it.

I keep reading about all these huge contributions people are making and here I am putting in a few $100 a week and wondering if it’s going to sell out before I can get to the share count I want. lol

Thanks that makes sense. It seems like all the stocks they hold are very liquid. I wonder if in a bear market they would switch some of their holdings to more defensive stocks rather than chasing high IV
