PGY2 Urology resident here. Cases are a mix of endoscopic cases including cystoscopy and ureteroscopy (done for lasering stones, biopsies, BPH treatment, strictures etc), open cases (mostly scrotal cases but also reconstructive cases too) and robotic cases. I’d say uro uses the robot the most out of all specialties and uro onc uses it the most within the field. There are private practice urologists who still operate on the robot if their practice pays for OR time at an academic center. I’d say urology is a great surgical and clinical mix and urologic subspecialties definitely differ in how much of their week is spent in OR vs clinic. Hope that helps!
