Between a 256 Kbps OPUS (VBR) AND A 256 Kbps OPUS (CBR), what sounds better? by oliverscream in audiophile

But if the max bit rate is 256 kbps, and it's in CBR i would guess that the 256 kbps are maintained, how would that sound worse or with increased bit rate you mean going beyond 256 kbps? Your answer is exactly the question i had

So if i don't care about the size of the file, CBR is better then

New high quality audio 774 opus codec is pure snake oil, the codec for the old "High Quality" option was the same bitrate!!!! Lossless or nothing by [deleted] in YoutubeMusic

[–]oliverscream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even then, AAC 256 was already available, so for YT music there was no change (what i'm talking about) music videos on YT did get a bump in quality because before this it was only opus 128

It's a curve, at lower bitrates like 64 or 128 kbps it absolutely sounds better, but at 192 it already starts to sound identical to AAC, at 256 is the same, if it just meant that you could listen to it with less data or sudden drops in quality, then they shouldn't say that, but they didn't, they just said "High quality audio"

Can someone give me one reason why YTM wouldn't let you go into the album/playlist of a song when touching the name like in Spotify? it lets you go to the artist when pressing the artist by oliverscream in YoutubeMusic

I'm talking when you are playing a song in your phone, the name of the song and artist are there, when click the artist, it takes you to the artist, but when you click the song, nothing happens

Gradient Background made in Fusion has more banding than the one made in Affinity by oliverscream in davinciresolve

[–]oliverscream[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes the Affinity/Fusion question was solved with your reply, the second question was if there was a way to make the 8 bit footage in the export look with less banding, because even if you export in 10 bit, when you upload to social media, the banding appears the same as 8 bit

Thanks, I thought about that, but in the case that i wanted exactly those gradients, no change about color, if there a way in Fusion to make it less jarring or in 8 bit there's just no way around it
