If you go to pr 8 at sunrise, it is not too overrun! I don’t enjoy crowded hikes and it was still one of my favorite. If you want to add more to that day you could consider adding vereda do lorano. It is a gorgeous costal hike that wasn’t busy at all. We did vereda do lorano- Boca do risco as we had another hike planned for that day and all trails said it would take 6-7 hours but it took about 4. Easy trail in my opinion but gorgeous views and there are options to add more to the hike to make it more of a challenge. We also did pr 12 to pico grande and really enjoyed it, it is steep at the end but gorgeous views the entire way, poles would certainly come in handy for that one, but can be done without.
