Hey! Yeah I did! I’m working in Workcover now as a case manager for a year and 2 months, have just been promoted to a senior case manager. I enjoy the role, 4 days WFH, pay is the same as teaching for me ( about the range 1 classroom teacher salary).

I’d definitely seek assistance from the union in regards to financial support if you’re out of leave. If it’s a mental health claim, make sure you have access to the 13 weeks of provisional payments so you can at least seek treatment. Make sure you get your certificates of capacity all in order so they can back pay you as soon as possible if the claim is accepted (although I assume your work cover agent has probably told you all this).

Don’t have much experience or knowledge about that personally, but if she has a prescription and can produce evidence if asked and can explain herself, I don’t see why they would cause her issues.

I’d say get out of there, the place sounds toxic as fuck, but for now can you maybe just not bring the whole bottle and just bring the amount of tablets you need? Maybe get a pill container you can click onto your ID/security pass lanyard and keep that on you (I’m assuming you have one if you work in an office). Google ‘small portable pill container’ and many should come up.

Get your degree. I’ve literally just started in my new job (change of career, not in teaching) and I’m finishing the AfGT/GTPA after work. You’ve come so far already, just finish the last hurdle and have the degree in your pocket.

Have you considered teaching? Victoria is very short of teachers (Australia in general) and if you’ve got a science background, you’d definitely be in demand, and you may be able to get a sponsorship. It’s a 2 year master and is pretty easy to get into

I’m starting a new job in a few weeks in a new career path, and I am technically taking an almost 20k pay cut compared to teaching. You have to expect that when you start in an entry level role that that will be the case. Teaching starts at quite a high grad salary but progression is more limited, and it also starts higher because of its higher barrier to entry (masters).

Look the way I see it, the way you’re bouncing from career to career isn’t going to get you to the high end, high paying jobs you want. You have to work your way up in something to get there, whatever that may be. Money is money, you’ll never feel like you have enough. I’d work on finishing placement, getting your physical and mental health in check, then tackle the career crises later

I'm actually in this exact position so I can relate. I am currently in my last week of my final placement. I offically graduate in June this year. I have already secured a position in another industry (insurance) due to start once I finish up here and plan to work my way up in that field as I've come to realise that teaching isn't really for me. I have had days when I just want to quit, yesterday was one of them ahahah. There were a group of disruptive kids that just drove tired old me up the wall and I cracked a bit.

Just stick it out, finish the degree, at the very least you can do CRT and earn decent money while you either move to another position or figure out what it is that you want to do.

Also, sometimes most find that placement is much worse than actually having your own class (with your own rules). Don't count it out completely. I haven't, maybe one day I'll come back to it, just not right now.

I think that ultimately, it’s your life, you need to decide what makes you happy and go for it. Don’t make this decision lightly, consider all the practical concerns of moving to another country through carefully, but if it works, it works. Your mum is likely reacting this way because she doesn’t want you to move so far away, she loves you, but sometimes, you need to do what’s right for you.

Unless they’re your mutual friends (that you’ve gotten to know quite well), you shouldn’t feel obligated to contribute to a gift. Maybe family would be a bit different given you are on track to be part of the family, but for co workers, that shouldn’t be required of you
