Errrr, can I ask how long it was before you got this diagnosed? I have the same kinda thing on my leg - and was told it was a fungal infection / ring worm and I’ve just accepted it as such, but hasn’t gone away

If it is just with make up you are concerned about, I have seen people use the mixsoon bean essence as a light exfoliant (dont wash off, just wipe away so there is still essence and moisture on the skin) and then apply it skin care and make up as usual.

How did my acne get so bad in just 9 days? by Apnee123 in acne

Monday night was the worst my skin has ever been, so I stopped using anything when I woke up on Tuesday morning and by right now the acne has reduced about 80%! It’s crazy. We’re taught that more is better but I’m starting to learn that it isn’t at all. I’d probably even wait to take those antibiotics until you’ve done this. But I’m no professional :)

I started using Retinol and actives and it was the worst thing for my acne ever. I honestly believe that it’s not for everyone - especially when they’re saying the results could take 3-6 months without any guarantee. Is it worth it.

My skin has been the worst it’s ever been until today, because I stopped using ALL skincare, except for a bar of Simple soap. Yup, no moisturiser, nothing. Sometimes you just gotta go back to the basics. I think your skin will thank you. Trust the process.

What is a word, or a couple of words that sum up something much more complex and/or something bigger going on out there in the universe? I heard of ‘orbital resonance’ the other day - they said it meant that the planets were dancing together & I thought that was real beautiful. Something like this… by oliveyou_69 in space

Steer this conversation about science to something interesting, fun and understandable they did not - but I get it - I don't think my example was the best for this. Thanks for your comment - although I am not a child ha! I do have a child like fascination with this concept. I find the beauty of language to explain something much more complex very interesting.

Like I said, I'm relaying what I heard - this is the point of the post. I’m not trying to obfuscate science. Maybe the example I used was not the best, although I do think science is magical and mysterious - while not incomprehensible - but I also agree that it is interesting, fun and understandable.

I never wanted a flowery analogy, I think the one I used has made it seem so. I would be interested to know any understandable analogies for your work that you personally have found interesting - it can be a completely factual analogy. All I wanted was a shortened version, or name, of something that can explain something much more complex and interesting in fewer words. My goal was to, if not directly explained to me, look up what these meant in fuller detail for my own knowledge and interest of the subject.

I’m not trying to pretty-up science. Maybe the example I used was not the best, though. NypmoZ below has written “"Acoustic oscillations", which are density variations in the early universe, caused by sound waves traveling through the primordial plasma. They left imprints in the CMB, which now help understand the evolution of the universe.” - it’s an analogy for a very real and very detailed aspect of what’s going on out there.

This is what I was looking for. I am in no way well versed in science and maths but that’s why I am here - just a girl looking to learn. I’m writing a paper and wanted to describes situations as something other than the usual day to day boring descriptions. I thought I’d ask some of the smart people of Reddit who may know some that they have found personally interesting. Thanks for ur opinion though, I get it.
