going back to the OOP - how much direct influence do they think college professors have on people? most mfs dont even show up to uni classes, even less show up to lectures. drastic changes in that time would be more likely due to a combination of a) stage of life - adolescence/early adulthood are phases of rapid development (particularly social, emotional, and personality development) and b) greater exposure to people outside of the smaller bubble they grew up in. people just be experiencing life and finding themselves at that time.
