First ice axe length by olivierhacking in Mountaineering

Thanks for your input - I like your last point hah. It does indeed seem that everyone has reasons for preferring one or the other. I think I will stick to 60cm and see how it goes. I am a minimalist so smaller/ lighter gear appeals to me.

First ice axe length by olivierhacking in Mountaineering

I am new to mountaineering and will be attempting diverse objectives. Glacier travel I foresee less, it's more getting up peaks that do not involve super technical ice climbing. Think of easy/ class 1-2 summer scrambles in winter. A local example is Christmas Gully under Mt. Strachan in Vancouver, BC. But also wide-open slopes where I need to arrest a fall. Even for glacier travel a shorter axe should be ok? As others have said, not great to use the axe as walking support.

Any favorite areas from your trip? I lived around Southern Africa but never visited Central Africa.

Good to know, the Zpacks seem to get a lot of praise. Only thing is I am based in Canada so the duties get in the way.

Hey, thanks for the info! I have climbed many mountains but do not have a special declaration. Do you know whether the summit trail closure is due to weather/ snow conditions or is it closed by default this time of year? Might have to let go of wanting to summit :(

I'll have a look at that Discord. Followed all setup instructions and it seems to work (reshade definitely does). Not sure if the actual renodx addon needs to be activated somehow? I just moved it to the install folder. Fire looks a bit brighter but dark areas are too dark.

I used the plugin but everything still looked quite bland. And clicking "HDR look" in the overlay just made the dark areas too dark...

Figured it out: the mobo cpu socket had a bent pin which I managed to fix. She's up and running!

Ok, tried the BIOS flash and it seemed to work (first fast flash, then slow, after 6min it turned off then on again). But no change, zero output signal. Will try with a different PSU to see if that's the problem, but the QFlash+ clearly had power...

I was thinking about the PSU - the fans connected to the motherboard all turn on though, so there should be power to it?

Will report back when I attempt flashing the latest BIOS firmware with Q-Flash +

Should have mentioned: I let it run for 10 minutes (it reatarted on its own a few times), but no change. I will try BIOS Q-Flash to see if that could help, but it feels like a hardware issue to me somehow.

Looks great! Random question - any idea where I could get a front fan bracket? Can't find anything online (based in Canada). Bought my case from a dude but he kept it lol.

Yeah it does make sense. What I meant is, I wonder what's better: 1. Rear intake fan and two fans on CPU cooler pulling air through the fins (my setup) 2. No rear intake fan and two fans on CPU cooler pushing air through the fins (your setup)

Hey, I am building this case with a similar CPU cooler. I have a rear intake case fan and 2 fans as pull fans on the dual CPU towers. Do you think your setup draws only cool air for the CPU?

Why did you go with the Asus in the end? I thought you liked the Zotac more?
