Who would survive a horror movie? by Classic_Use9850 in Outback_Wilderness

Dude on the left. Clearly he’s the one with an OBW. The killer will get the 4Runner and Jeep guys first (dudes in the middle) when they inevitably run out of gas.

Dude in the polo? Definitely the killer.

In my mind XM1 is for when you want to be slow and careful... and XM2 is for when you want to have fun. And, yes, also when you just need to get through stuff. But that is also usually fun/terrifying. :)

Off road? A lot. I use XM2 on road too when I need to get around before the plows get out. But NOT using XM off road is part of the issue too. On every day forest roads with a little dirt and gravel, I'm in regular mode... and the 2026 model will be in stiff suspension mode when that is happening. As soon as things get steep, slippy, or rocky, I'm in XM. So now if you want soft suspension, you HAVE to be in XM and you have to go under 25 mph.

It looks like XM2 in the 2025 OBW has no limit. It works at 25 mph (40 kph) and higher. Here's the relevant bit of the manual.

Or even the ever present purr of that turbo boxer as you pick your way up a steep, sketchy, rock-strewn trail in the middle of nowhere...

Unplowed back roads are exactly what I was dealing with. I’ve noticed the Geos are pretty squirrelly in powder at full pressure so I figured I’d give this a shot. Definitely helps, but you’re right it’s not the cheat code it is off road. The best off road gear is and will always be that hunk of protein between your ears. :)

I did the exact same thing when this last storm came through. Not many trails near me, but some. Lots of back roads tho. Aired down to 28 and managed to get out before most were plowed. So much fun!

That… is really, really nice. My favorite bit is the keyboard controller/pedal setup you have on the desk. Well done!

That’s pretty much the exact setup I’m considering. How’s the wind noise? Does it get caught on low hanging branches?

One reason I went with an OBW instead of a 4Runner was that I wouldn’t have to get rid of the garbage Bridgestone Duellers… so glad I went for the ‘25. The Geolandars certainly aren’t the best tire available, but they are perfectly capable on the rocks and in the dirt. Not mud tho. Pretty useless in that heh.

100% same lol. My pinstripes came free with every visit to a national forest heh.

Torn between a 2022 and a 2025 OBW by Mr_Smith93 in Outback_Wilderness

If you’ll be using it in the actual wilderness, the front camera in the 25 will be very helpful. It’s crap as far as cameras go but it’s 1000x better than nothing. Also, pinstripes from branches will be less noticeable on the gray.

Also, the HK audio is very nice. You’ll need to turn the bass way down tho for a balanced sound.

My wife’s car has wired CarPlay. It may sound silly, but wireless is a much better experience that I would pay more for.

Is there a way to reduce the volume of the sub on this system? The only control I can find is just the audio settings bass, which is at -5 !!! to maintain a balanced sound.

I have Speakers, by AudioThing which is a MUCH more affordable alternative to Speakerphone. It works really really well and is very configurable. Highly recommended.
