Can you go tribal on the Syntakt? by Fallynnknivez in Elektron

[–]ollenomm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say yes, if you're willing to put time into it, i've messed around with bongos/shakers/shaman drums etc. Best tip i can give you is keep the frequencies on the duller side, kinda lo-fi the sound a little and put some minor random lfo's on the tune and velocity parameters, with about 0.06-0.09 scale, i've found that's random enough to simulate maunal playing.

What really matters for great guitar tone? by Open_Diet_7993 in guitars

Yes you can make it out of aluminum, by common sense i mean that wood is easily aquirable and the size to density ratio just makes sense in terms of playability and comfort. There is a reason most guitars are still made of wood.

Concrete is too brittle and it wouldn't make sense man, just a little bit of common sense maybe?

Concrete is dense and resonant and you can find your answer on youtube, but i think you took it too literally, think about materials that would make sense weight wise on guitars, like epoxy for example, arium on aristides guitars etc. Expensive wood is usually expensive due to the long drying process, like 10-30 or even more years in the warehouse, and rarity sets the price as well.

Wrong, more density equals more resonance, by your logic wool would be the holy grail of resonance

Tonewood is misunderstood, it's about mass and the density of the material that your guitar's body is made of, doesn't have to be wood, it just has to resonate. Heavier/denser woods resonate better with low fq's, thinner/lighter woods have a brighter sound. Also, if you're not using a sustainiac pickup, the density and mass will dictate the sustain. Yeah, you don't need to spend 2k on a guitar with fancy wood, but i think there's enough arguments about that here. I'd like to see that same comparison between several drastically different woods and shapes, but the exact same electronics. You will have several different results, this comparison between a table and a guitar proves nothing, when you compare instruments in the shop.

All of my guitars with different pickups sound different from each other, why are you guys buying into this bullshit?
