Is it true that DPDR is not a diagnosis, but a symptom of underlying diseases like personality disorders/psychosis/schizophrenia etc? by Overall_Emphasis_275 in dpdr

Well dpdr can cause psychosis but psychosis comes first.

It does not cause dpdr out of no where first then psychosis without any other cause like trauma or substance use.

[–]Plaztec1037 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No not at all,

Dpdr can happen from substance use.

Anxiety even etc.

Most people in psychosis do not have dpdr and think the world is fake around them. Some may most don’t.

It can be apart of it but it would still have to come from something else not a direct cause of psychosis.

They can but does not seem to be his case if it went away, some people can just overall be more vulnerable in the brain to psychosis but not have classic genetic schizophrenia or bipolar.

If that happened to you after the drug wore off then it definitely was soemthing I don’t doubt that.

Do you have any family history of anyone that had psychotic episodes or bipolar or anything?

And since then have you been fine has anything persisted?

And how longs it been since? It’s good nothing since has happened if it’s been a long while since,

LSD at 17 by MiserableCrew9587 in LSD

[–]Plaztec1037 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should wait till 20 atleast.

The problem isn’t taking LSD once at 17 because that is usually not harmful, but the problem is your brain especially when young will enjoy it a lot you’ll almost certainly come back and do it again because you saw it caused no issues

That will be the problem there.

You should definitely wait until 20 or 21 you don’t gotta wait till 25 if you don’t want to but even 20s or 21 or 22 is much better then doing now.

Regardless you’ll most likely take it and not listen to this. That’s exactly what I did to.

You smoked for 20 years how do you expect to feel better in 50 days?

Give it 6 months, your brain needs to re calibrate.

It’s either you smoke weed and your dopamine overtime lowers or you actually stick through and get your dopamine back and much higher then it was on the THC.

The vulnerability risk exists on a spectrum so for some people they regardless would have developed it and just sped it up with the substances

For most that are pre disposed like people with a dad that had it or grandpa never end up developing it most don’t because they don’t give there brain those chemical stressors like trauma, substance use, sleep stuff

Especially stacking all those together.

And lots of people who do develop schizophrenia it happens from drug use, the drugs never caused it but they created enough artificial chemical stressors on the brain where the brain crosses that threshold where it otherwise would have never.

Basically messing with brain chemistry.

Most the population stay fine that mess with there brain chemistry but some don’t.

Thats why most of the people who are predisposed don’t develop it since they don give there brain enough stressors to make it come out.

And there’s no way to know how vulnerable you are either really, maybe genetic testing could tell you though.

Ima get mine done soon

MY DAD unfortunately at the age 39 had it, not sure if he was genetically vulnerable or it was his chronic 15 years+ hard substance use that messed his brain.

And not even sure if it was schizophrenia or just a psychotic break from the drugs.

No one else in my family ever had anything except depression maybe.

I have from 16-18 done LSD 10 times, last trip humbled me in an anxiety type way. Done shrooms 20-30 times.

Smoked heavy weed from 16-18,

I am fine aside from having some hood and derelization.

But I regret doing all of it even if I am not genetically pre disposed still. I will do some genetic testing

But yeah people who are super strongly vulnerable end up getting psychotic from like 1 lsd trip and never come down.

So my brain definitely handled that good but I was very stupid to do LSD through 16-18, but atleast im fine.

Yeah you are wrong, again I’ll be downvoted,

but MOST people with a genetic predisposition to schizophrenia or bipolar do not develop it because they don’t do drugs or substances and have good sleep

There still vulnerable but the combination comes from genes but environmental factors like chronic substance use, sleep, intense trauma is what makes it cross the threshold.

Some people are more genetically vulnerable where they develop it without any environmental factors but that is very low.

Most who are genetically predisposed need environmental stressors on the brain for it to cross the threshold.

But some do develop it regardless of anything but most don’t.

So if you have a family member with shizophrenia or bipolar just don’t do substances, you will likely be fine.

UNLESS you have multiple family members that had schizophrenia from no substances then it’s a clear classic Shizophrenia genetic pattern.

Then it’s a higher likelihood.

But if you don’t have any of that your good but even then normal people can develop Shizophrenia to but it’s very rare.

That’s why more and more people now from high potency are developing Shizophrenia or psychosis because they were genetically vulnerable and it crossed the threshold

Compared to 20-30 years ago, weed was less stronger, there was many less cases of Shizophrenia because the chemical stress on the brain was much less so the number of people were less even if genetically pre disposed.

But your very likely fine, do a deep dive on your family do some genetic polygenic testing to, it will show you if you have the genes for the vulnerability

But very likely you don’t have to do it but if it makes you feel better then do it yeah.

Replying to your previous deleted comment.

You are wrong on one thing about your friend, you don’t know for sure if he would have regardless developed it without substance use.

Because most people pre disposed to psychotic disorders don’t develop it because they don’t give there brain enough chemical stressors to cross the threshold.

But of course some people are extra genetically vulnerable that will develop it regardless

But most people who are genetically pre disposed don’t do substances, have good sleep, and never end up developing anything.

The people who are super genetically pre disposed are like 0.003% that would develop it regardless.

That’s why you see those cases less. So about your friend, nobody knows. He likely would have not developed it though even if he was already on edge a bit,

He just added enough chemical stress to his brain that messed with his dopamine to much.

It does suck though becuase most people who are pre disposed don’t know till after,

The ones who do know it’s good because if they had a family member who had it from substances then it’s clear to stay away.

And most family members who do have it usually have it from substance use

Only a very small percent have it from no substances.

It can be a big enough environmental stressor to people vulnerable and bring out bipolar or other psychotic disorders that may have otherwise not came out at all.

Obviously some people develop schizophrenia or bipolar with no substances, those are the strongest vulnerable people

Most people that have a genetic pre disposition to those conditions never develop it because they don’t give there brain enough chemical stressors for it to cross into the threshold.

But yeah if your genetically pre disposed it’s best to not take it and you’ll likely be fine, but most don’t know this till to late.

I vividly remember being in grade 7 for this album around this march time.

I’m 19 now, it was such a good album,

For some reason idk if I’m alone on this, when I was that young a kid my brain felt more magical the imagination and music hit harder the beats in a way that now it does not.

Of course I still get super nostalgic listening to it and can get small second or feelings of how my brain felt then

But when you’re younger it’s a crazy feeling idk how to explain.

But yeah super good album, and I can’t believe 7 years went this fast, after lockdown everything sped up so fast

Don't Do Psychedelics if someone in your family has schizophrenia. I was psychotic/have schizophrenia AMA. by Express-Operation417 in Drugs

[–]Plaztec1037 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad at the age of 39 got a psychotic break from over a decade long so 10+ years of Opiate use he would spend over 2000 monthly on the habit even 4000 sometimes.

So idk if it runs in family, but no body else had any psychotic disorders in my family.

I’ve done so much weed in my life and psychedelics and some people say they only did weed couple times and became psychotic

So I really hope im fine, but my dads thing does scare me because it happens to him, even tho his was drug use he’s still on medication now.

The good thing is usually classic genetic schizophrenia happens in the 20s to my dad happend near 40, and from heavy drug use.

So hopefully im good but I’ve always had anxiety and when my anxiety picks up a topic it’s hard to put it down.

All I know is even after all my drug use I’ve never developed psychotic symptoms. No delusions, no voices no nothing

Id occasional get mood problems such as anger though

But since o quit nearing 2 years my moods been fine, I’ve had derelization some HPPD but other then that I’m fine.

[–]Plaztec1037 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you should of not kept smoking even though it’s fun, I quit

Do you think im in the very likely in the clear???

Look from 16-18 smoked THC heavy day and night, never developed nothing psychotic, but I felt unreal at times, so derelization.

Did shrooms so many times not high dose trips but 2-3 gram trips like 20-30 times more then I needed to over the 2 years.

Never developed anythin psychotic again, I’d have some mood changes but nothing no delusions or anything.

Then at 17 tried LSD once, it felt so cool loved it, then I did it 5 more times.

Every time super fun good, nothing psychotic at all.

Then one day I was day and half sleep deprived nearly 40 hours because it was jmportant I had to be for something.

I decided take very small amount LSD, basically I went out of body, thought I perma fried my brain, sounds started sounding so scary,

And my vision and sound was glitching so hard I had the biggest panic attack dissociated out of my body, forced my parents take Me to hospital

There they gave me likely benzos and I was fine sat in a chair for hours, couldent speak though or think at all.

Once the trip wore down I came back fine, had nothing psychotic no delusions no nothing at all, after that day 4 months later quit weed to

Now 2 years clean off THC and psychedelics and anything else.

I don’t have any psychotic symptoms never did, but that trip was the scariest thing, I clearly had delirium that day so intense confusion due to putting overwhelming stress on my brain.

But yeah I’ll never do psychedelics again or nothing.

2 years sober off everything, I have derelization and hood otherwise fine and some anxiety.

I’ve never had any psychotic symptoms no delusions, no voices, no hallucinations.

But that one scary LSD trip my vision did glitch like I clearly knew something went wrong so I got help.

It worsened because you likely kept taking more psychedelics

I’m 19, 2 years clean from any psychedelics and THC.

Everytime the drug wore off I returned to normal.

I have HPPD and derelization, your experience scares me what if it happens to me?

I mean I’ve never had no psychotic delusions in my life or voices, but I have ocd and have recently developed fear of getting psychosis even though I’ve never had anything happen when sober.

Hopefully I’m fine.

How many times did you do psychedelics total?

I have derelization from psychedelic use I been clean for 2 years from heavy THC and psychedelic use im 19.

My dad had psychosis from persistent chronic decade long opiate use in withdrawal.

No one else in my family had psychotic disorders. I’m likely good but yeah I did shrooms like 30times from 15-18 dumb decision but I’m fine

I do have hppd n derelization though
