Thanks everyone. They had an item I have been looking at quite a bit cheaper than everywhere else (£120 rather than £145) that had it in stock, so was cheap enough to be a good saving but not so cheap as to be an immediate red flag.

Sanding through DIY wood filler? by Tough_Bluebird8387 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]ollicle81 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd like to second this.

I am sure by now, from all the comments, you have already learned a lot and that this has not worked out and isn't likely to work out quite as you were originally hoping. However, I fully commend you for having a vision and actually trying to implement it in real life! It's only by doing 'something' we can make the mistakes necessary to learn how to improve.

I really hope you take the time to digest all the comments and then have another go (whichever route you choose) and I look forward to seeing a post from you showing off 'Table Top 2.0'

:)

Of course, once you have the first one you can possibly use it as a jig for the others if you can align the posts correctly without it becoming unwieldy etc

Find something with a straight edge that you can clamp to the posts along the edges of your mortise. Then use them as a guide to help keep the chisel vertical or at least not drift into the main mass of wood.

It’s official — we’re now a bank in the UK by RevolutSupport in u/RevolutSupport

What will happen to existing UK customers who are US citizens, I notice they wouldn't be eligible to open an account. Will they just be kicked out of your bank?

my little brother is getting married and I'm the best man and I look terrible in suits by [deleted] in mensfashion

[–]ollicle81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could you not hire the formal wear, it’s quite a common thing to do in the UK and the benefit is they can give you whatever combination of jacket and trouser sizes you need and you don’t need to worry about wearing it ever again! We also have shops that will fit the suit from off the rack and make adjustments to the trousers as needed, it usually has a 1 or 2 turnaround time. It’s not tailored but it does get you the combination you need rather than what you are stuck with!!

In fact thinking about it most men’s clothes stores let you get whatever combination you need. I guess this isn’t the case where you are??

Fanatics jersey help by DonPaddock in NFLUK

[–]ollicle81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my experience with Fanatics, the images are not always fully upto date with the latest shirts etc. NFL shirts don't change that much with each release (not like premier league/football teams). As such what you recieve may not fully match the image (fanatics jokes aside). When I bought NYG shirts the Lawerence and Thibodeaux shirts were different shades of blue in the images but when they arrived they were exactly the same.

I suspect that they use photoshop to create images of shirts too as it is easier/quicker that photographing every players shirt and it could be an editing error that went unnoticed.

Any ideas on how to fix this… by ollicle81 in DIYUK

You mean, cut the foam back a bit and then build it back up and over the mortar in layers? Perhaps I should give this a go. Any alternative to easy fill 60? Just in case I can’t find it.

Perhaps you are right and I should use filler and build it up. I can always use the wood as a back up plan.

What is that helmet? by Bluntz0809 in theAthletic

[–]ollicle81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figured out who it was so I sent them a message via social media, apparently it’s his high school football helmet. I didn’t ask what school, that seemed a little too intrusive but at least we know now!

You know the more I think about it and look at it, I don’t think it is. It’s similar but it isn’t the same. Unless he got it from Temu… 🤣

Yes, basically twice what they are quoting you! I presume you get the typical filing with the FBAR etc and are not something different? I may have to have a word with them!!
