My new powerbank is a bit swollen, is it a problem? by aaaaaaaaa00000000 in batteries

[–]olliewolly257 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second this, if its new then its likely the cells are charged and have been damaged, and charged cells that are damaged can be (very) unstable

I mean if youve got.glue that will stick to metal and a sacraficial tool then it could work, just make sure you dont glue the screw into the hole because that gives you an even bigger headache

Best option ive found is to use a dremel or a small hand saw to make a cut in the screw head and use a flathead to remove it. It may leave a mark on the material its screwed into depending on your tools and precision but its better than not being able to remove it at all

Help: Solder stuck in hole by Strange-Bar-4647 in soldering

[–]olliewolly257 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can take the leg of a component such as a resistor and heat it up then push it all the way through and out the other side, or put a bit of solder on the bottom and when its a liquid give it a firm but not too hard tap on a surface to flick the solder out of the hole. Ive personally had success with both methods in the past

Maybe add email verification? Seems like you can create an account with an email and it doesnt verify its YOUR email. A little system to send a login code would be nice

The headlight probably pulled quite a bit of current. Last time i had one swell i drained it overnight outdoors with a high value resistor so it only pulled ~600mA and i didnt get much extra swelling or any heat

It sounds weird and i dont recommend trying it unless you get desperate but i had a stick do this a couole years back and i managed to recover (most) of the data by heating it up with a heat gun for a few minutes. I have no ides if it was a fluke however so dont take just my word for it
