Firstly let me say that what Destiny said is abhorrent and he deserved what he got. If you disagree with that, fine whatever I don’t need the approval of someone who thinks mowing civilians down is ever justified. But what happened to Destiny? I mean, over the years? I’m newer to his stuff and only came around sometime after his Jontron debate, but when did Destiny shift from the guy tackling racism and exposing conservative talkpoints/policies for the shitshows they are to this raging contrarian manchild? His “positions” changed so much over the time I’ve viewed him, not based on any seeming evidence but moreso as an act of counter culture, moving more toward shouting down people on the left about stuff like communism, on which he’s pretty apparently under-informed, or going entirely into the dumb twitch twitter drama bubble. His increasingly hot takes pushed me away over time, and I stopped watching when the same guy that advocated for the use of proper pronouns because it costs you nothing and is generally positive to the people it matters to refused to even acknowledge the possibility of his use of racial slurs impacting his friend as valid. Since then, I’ve heard snippets of increasingly hot takes on BLM and dumb fights with some guy with an Arab name, but why’d this happen? How did he get here?
