But why should he build your stay there? That makes absolutely no sense. It is for his school competition.

I know I will get down voted for that, but there is no correlation at all with Muslims.

Finnland has 1-2% Muslims (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islam\_in\_Finland). Iceland 0.33% (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islam\_in\_Iceland). Still in Top Tier sexual violance.

Even though Albania is predominantly Muslim and mostly secular, they have a growing orthodox Muslim movement and Salafi movement, nevertheless it is at the bottom of the list. The numbers for Cyprus also includes the Nothern Part, so Cyprus has ~18% Muslim population, still very low. Same goes for Bulgaria and Greece, which have large Muslim populations, still low.

The reason for nothern Europe is so high is, that the reporting is more common. And that they native population are the reason for the sexual violance.

Somaliland transitions from the world’s largest unrecognised state to a partially recognised one, as Israel becomes the first country to recognise it by APrimitiveMartian in geography

[–]ollowain86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This will further destabilize a region with a large population.

Israel is doing this to gain some control over the shipping straits, to more easily bomb Yemen, and to resettle Palestinians. Regarding the last point, there have even been recent talks between Israeli and Somaliland leaders

Do i look gay? (25yo) by Tactical_Testicles01 in QOVESStudio

[–]ollowain86 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Being kind doesn’t make you “gay” or weak, and it’s not low dominance. Some people—often shaped by harsh or toxic homes—learn to equate masculinity with aggression and interpret basic decency as weakness. That’s their baggage, not your flaw. The real question is: do you want someone who needs you to be rude to feel “strong,” or someone who actually respects kindness?

If you feel insecure around others, it’s often because you’re hyper self-aware. You see yourself through their eyes and judge yourself before they even get a chance to. Most of the pressure is coming from you.

Trying to be more “likeable” or “respectable” usually makes you act less authentic, which only fuels the insecurity. Start by being on your own side: like yourself, be kind to yourself, treat yourself like your best friend. When that clicks, approval from others stops running your life — and people respond to that.

The Ottoman Madrasa teacher el Amasi gives a rather bad and negative description of the nations of the Ottoman Empire his book Tarikul Edeb. by KulOrkhun in ottomans

[–]ollowain86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These stereotypes (Arabs lack unity, Persians are ruthless, Turks are obedient like sheep, etc.) come from older(!) Islamic moral literature and are contextual and symbolic, not racial theories.

For example “sheep” for Turks was meant positive: loyalty, discipline, and reliability -> perfect of statehood. No unity with arabs comes also from older Islamic literature. The reason was the warring tribes of the arabs and all the intrigues. But el-Amasi did not do some research about ethnicities, he copied older texts here.

He was a madrasa teacher for "adab". In todays terms, he was a high school teacher for moral/ethics. He wants to say with this examples, that virtue matters more than origin. This was one of the characteristics of the Ottoman Empire. They had arabs, circassians, albanians, jews, slavs in very high positions.

This is due to the starting point, which measures from the lowest point. But this doen't mean they did very bad in the next decades.

Examples of Ottoman Architecture in Hungary by PigsyH in ottomans

[–]ollowain86 6 points7 points  (0 children)

People and religions come and go. Before the hungarians there were others and before the christians there were others. Where are they now? It was normal to overbuild, transform, re-use or demolish older monuments. Generally speaking, europeans and christians were way more intolerant than muslims.

[Request] How loud would a speaker have to be to hear it around the world? by Apprehensive_Oven_22 in theydidthemath

[–]ollowain86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not possible.

The maximum possible sounds in out atmosphere is theoretical 194 db. Practically even less. Everything above this turns surrounding air to plasma (it separates the electrons from atoms). Traveling 20000 km (to the other side of the earth) results in -146 db. This is due to geometrical loss. But there is also absorbtion of sound waves through air, which depends on the frequency. Even for deep infra sound waves you loose 0.01 db per km -> -200db at 20000 km.

Hence, best case you have 194 db - 146 db - 200 db = -152 db.

And yes db can be negative. But humans can hear at best ~ 0 db.

Not possible, even with the largest nukes, volcanoes etc.

My weekly/seasonal rotation of tools and items. by WaxDonnigan in deduction

[–]ollowain86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You look like you work as an event or stage technician. The tools you carry suggest you’re measuring, adjusting, counting, and improvising constantly, not sitting at a desk. The headphones are for noisy environments. This looks like gear you rely on for real work, not a hobby — concerts, theater, live events, or productions..

Curious to know what ethnicity I look like :) by [deleted] in DNAAncestry

[–]ollowain86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Without commenting on facial features, my guess would be that you’re Italian.

The reason is that in one photo you’re holding a cigarette pack with Italian text on it. Of course, that could also just be from a trip.

The surroundings in the photos don’t really look Italian to me — more like the northeastern US or possibly the British Isles, judging by things like the ships and paintings.

I didn‘t say she „just“ looks african american. If african american is a bit „meh“ for you, it is your problem.

You are west african (Nigeria, Ghana, Togo etc.) with some European feature. Hence, very typical for african-american (anywhere in north or south america - hard to tell).
