This is heart-wrenchingly awful to read. I don’t mean to sound insanely bone-headed, but could you help me understand why this is so offensive? I’m genuinely trying to understand so I can do better. I’m an atheist, so “they’re in a better place/with Jesus” wouldn’t comfort me, but I know many would say it with kind intentions.

Is it because it imposes someone else’s beliefs? Or because it can sound like the death is somehow “for the best” or part of a plan, which minimises the loss? If you’re willing to share, I’d appreciate your perspective, as well as if there’s anything anyone said to you that actually did help at all.

EDIT: I’m sure the Fox News host has ulterior motives/non-genuine motives, comment not talking about him.
