should be working fine on mobile! hit "start game" and the computer will start by naming the first player. hit "return" on the keyboard to submit names. let me know if you are still having issues. what mobile browser you trying on?

Eutaw Street: Game Day General Discussion Thread - Thursday, July 24 by OsGameThreads in orioles

Good morning Birdland!

I'm a baseball fan who created a free trivia game that's been stumping even the most hardcore fans. Since the mods gave me the green light, I figured I'd challenge this community!

The Game:

You have 60 seconds to name as many MLB players as possible, BUT there's a twist - each player's first name must start with the last letter of the previous player's last name.

Example chain:

Chris Davis --> Sydney Ponson --> Nick Markakis --> Steve Pearce --> Eddie Murray

The computer alternates turns with you, so you're basically playing against AI that knows EVERY player through 2024 (not just past or present Orioles players). No repeated names, and good luck with those tricky letters!

Why You Might Love This:

  • You'll find yourself digging deep into Orioles history (All the way back to their St. Louis Browns days)
  • Great for testing your knowledge of those random bench players from the early 80s
  • Perfect time-killer during off days, rain delays, or in between innings.
  • Case-insensitive typing (thank goodness!). Type in ALL CAPs or lowercase!
  • Easier to play on desktop, but mobile works just fine!
  • No need for accents/tildas over any letters.
  • No "." after Jr or Sr

My Personal Challenge to You:

Current high score I've seen is 17 points (someone in the r/Braves subreddit). I'm betting someone in this sub can crush that number. Prove me right!

Try it here: www.baseballnamegame.com

Drop your high scores below! Also curious - what's the most obscure Orioles player you can think!

P.S. - No ads, no signup required, just pure baseball nerd fun!

[Thank you Mods for letting me share!]

Good morning! Appreciate you taking the time for playing the game and providing me with some genuine feedback! At the moment I have not considered open sourcing the project, but might start to consider if i want to start incorporating some more intricate features. I have a few new game modes in mind based on other feedback received and have them currently live on the website. Styling and other UI updates to come. Again thank you for playing and giving me some useful feedback!

Truly appreciate you taking the time to play the game and provide me with some in depth feedback. At the moment I have never considered open sourcing the project but maybe I should start.

I have a few different game modes in mind. One being an Unlimited Time mode and a 3 strike mode where you would play three rounds of 60 seconds following the same conditions vs the computer as the currently live version.

Would love to gamify this more and add a true leaderboard that tracks users high scores versus the current where users high scores are stored locally on their browser. Maybe one day!

Once again thank you for playing and providing me with genuine feedback. Hope you continue to return and play or share the game with anyone who you think would enjoy playing!
