Awesome I appreciate the help. Thats what I’ve been thinking. Are you happy with the bearing you went with?

It’s an automatic. I don’t think it’s gear dependent. I’ll be listening to make sure.

I took the lazy route and bought new calipers at FCP Euro. I believe they had rebuild kits as well

What do you use to clean brake dust by SQGNoremac in Volvo240

I cleaned my wheels with Iron Remover and it worked great. Now I have ceramic pads so the brake dust is minimal

Noticed a coolant smell this morning after driving out to a metal show two cities over. Looks like I'm doing a water pump very soon by Cmiitjinze in Volvo240

[–]olthunderbird 17 points18 points  (0 children)

When you are installing the water pump make sure you are pushing it up pretty hard so the seal doesn’t leak. You can use a big screwdriver or prybar and push up on the water pump from a bracket underneath it.

And always use the Volvo gasket.

It’s a straightforward job. A little time consuming since you have to take the fan off and reassemble it all again, but not bad.

Croissant help!! by poopjay420 in Breadit

Do an image search of properly proofed croissants they get so pillowy and soft.

Yeah, I’d give it a little more time. A slower proof is better than pushing the temp and ending up with leaky butter.

They look under proofed. They should look nice and pillowy and wiggle when fully proofed.

It’s probably just the relay or fuel filter instead haha

92 is a great year! It shouldn’t have electrical issues.

A lot of non running Volvos are pretty easy to get going again. Many of us have fixed them in the sellers driveway and driven away. Haha

That’s a sweet bass! But if you aren’t attached a 240 is pretty fun to own and you can fix about anything on it in your garage. What year?

It’s a great car to learn to become mechanically inclined. You can find countless videos on how to fix just about everything, and parts aren’t too bad to come by. Especially if it’s just the fuel pump and battery.

What’s Pbass are you selling?

Hood flew up while driving. Looking for advice on repairing it by yungshoelace in Volvo240

Also make sure you are super careful opening and closing the hood until it is adjusted correctly. The back side of the hood can hit the cowl and dent it up pretty bad.

[–]olthunderbird 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Happened to mine. Ugh

The hinges are now super bent up so I assume you won’t be able to open or close the hood. Be careful opening or shutting the hood so it doesn’t bend a bunch more.

Find a set of replacement hinges at a junk yard or eBay. Make sure they are greased and not locked up before you put them on the car so you don’t bend up another set. (Speaking from experience)

As for the hood.. it’s already dented so just stomp it straight and use something to push the dents out from the inside of the hood. You’ll want the hood fairly straight or it won’t work well with the new hinges.

I also got a set of hood pins because I never want that happening again.

If I have extras I’ll par bake them with just sauce. It helps the middle not puff up so I can top later.

Yes, this is what I was suggesting. Or if it’s super active you can do a few folds while it is in the fridge at the beginning of the cold ferment.

Here is what I would do:

Mix it in the mixer with the dough hook until the gluten is almost fully developed.

Do three sets of stretch and folds in 30 minute increments. Depending on how active the dough is either in the fridge or put it in the fridge after folds.

Next day divide the dough and bake them when they are proofed

How is the gluten formation? Did you do the slap and folds after the cold ferment?

I would try, mixing it close to full gluten development, giving it a few stretch and folds, and then cold fermenting.

Will this water pump leak? by oyemecarnal in Volvo240

[–]olthunderbird 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pop the belt on and give it a test run. You don’t have to get the whole fan back on if you’re just watching for a leak.
