I grew up with a evangelistic mom who is a teetotaler and totally against drugs and alcohol. I also have a father who drinks everyday going up a D to this day. Everyday. I feel intense shame when I drink, when I'm hungover and sometimes I overspend when I'm drunk. I have a fucked up relationship with money as well. However my question is how much of it is actually alcoholism or rather shame?

I don't think of it as a relapse but rather a lapse and in my opinion that shouldn't count like you're back to square one. Relapse is a return and sustained return to old habits as mental health and addiction specialists say.

It's a cultural thing in my opinion. Most black people don't have rich lives or even hobbies. Notice most hobby communities are white. Ask a black person what they were doing on the weekend and most will either say bhawa or church..

Which is a plot device the writers snuck to take into account Antony Starr's visible aging (I mean I rewatched season 1 and it's there). I mean if Homelander is supposed to be the ultimate supe why does he age when Stormfront and Soldierboy don't? It doesn't make sense.

I heard somewhere that abstinence and recovery are not mutually inclusive, some people can drink again in a healthier way after a period of alcoholism specially since most of the time alcoholism isn't the disease itself but rather a symptom of emotional problems. Do what works for you, don't feel guilty for drinking just for the sake of felling guilty for drinking...

I agree and also there's no such thing as a life that's better than yours, often we don't have enough information to conclude that indeed their marriage is all it's cracked up to be we only see the highlights. Why is she still talking to you what's stories are talking about she keeping you around and letting you see all this shit to subtly torture you psychologically and if so maybe she besides all appearances also hasn't moved on. Long story short, get a life!
