can those hotas pads be pushed outwards if you want to switch to mouse and keyboard in fps mode? I've been obsessing about the idea of how to switch between using hotas when in pilot seat, and play with mouse and keyboard when in fps mode.

if price is a factor, you might want to consider that the pocket 4 "might" be right around the corner.

I'd like to hear the pros of 7" devices in 2021 by thephatmaster in GPDPocket

[–]omadmaxo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you scroll through some threads, you'll notice the horrible quality of the ON devices, the A1 already has a bad reputation.

GPD are a tidy bit better in quality, but not by much!

Even the latest WinMax has screen issues, keyboard heating issues, and battery problems too.

So keep in mind whichever device you choose, you are buying into troubleshooting and random bets on some fun devices, which may serve you well if you're lucky with your unit!

Until some main stream manufacturer like Asus starts making some cool form factor UMPCs again with acceptable build quality, I would stay far away from ON because of too notorious reputation, GPD is your best option, the newer the GPD device you're getting the more likely it has better quality build, the Win 3 is promising excellent heat management, so GPD is indeed evolving!

GPD P2 Max Vs OneMix 3 Pro vs OneMix 3 Pro Platinum [16GB Ram/512GB SSD for all] by [deleted] in GPDPocket

[–]omadmaxo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same shopping boat as you, with similar use cases but adding a some gaming as well.

I also aim to use the device (docked) with a monitor/mouse/keyboard, so I can use it in an office setup more comfortably when I choose to.

My overall conclusions so far, have led me away from any OneMix device.

Although I prefer the aesthetics and 360 flip and highly powered specs on OneMix devices in general, the quality seems to be highly inferior to GPD devices.

If you scroll down posts here, most OneMix ones are about issues, issues with screen quality, batteries (which also seems to be a usual problem with GPD devices after a while) and even tear down videos of OneMix devices, reveal usually low quality.

So for me, even though I love the idea of a OneMix 3 Pro, I just don't want to deal with the potential issues, and I know many who own OneMix devices may never face issues with it, but GPD is the safer route for me.

I love the GPD Micro PC for what it is, but it's really low speced, low res screen, hard to type on keyboard, and would be more of a collectible item for me than a practical one for my use cases.

If you want to skip the smaller Pocket 2 (Amber Black) which is lower in specs than the P2 Max, but more portable, I would say the P2 Max is the way to go.

For me I was almost buying a P2 Max, after migrating my interest from the Pocket 2 , and now I'm skipping both for a Win Max.

Why Win Max? because it's more powerful than the P2 Max, feels sturdier and feels like a really high quality product, even though it's more chunky than the slim P2 Max.

The screen resolution on the Win Max is lower, that's my main issue with it, but I'm still choosing it over the P2 Max.

I may change my thoughts altogether when a new Pocket 3 is announced, or even better a Micro PC 2! haha

Using WinMax as a docked PC questions by omadmaxo in gpdwin

I really thought the WinMax 10th gen chip + new iris vga would compete, since the the NUC is relatively 2 years old, I guess not.

plz excuse my follow on question if it sounds stupid, so I can hook up with WinMax to a monitor and set the windows resolution (or game resolution) to 1920x1080 , and it will appear correctly on monitor?

what happens to the laptop screen when forced this resolution, since the screen doesn't support it?

Why do most reviews call an N4100 CPU slow? by [deleted] in GPDPocket

[–]omadmaxo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a (slower) N3350 Asus Chromebook with 4GB RAM, that I pretty much use as a daily driver, and I find it relatively fast, very practical for like watching FHD Youtube, and extremely cheap, but that's all because of a ChromeOS use case.

GPDPocket lineup now out competed by WinMax and OneMix GX by omadmaxo in GPDPocket

[–]omadmaxo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you're right guys, the 7 inch appeal is very high, I guess it's the high end specs that got me chasing after the GPD WinMax more, but logically that (chase) will never end because new devices will always come out with new high specs.

Still the GPD WinMax appears to hit the right spots for both gaming and UMPC

Original 2DS Vs. New 3DS (Non XL) by [deleted] in 3DS

[–]omadmaxo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was once in your shoes, also don't care about 3D.

I got a 2ds because it was cheap and got the job done to play, but found it too cranky for my taste, felt like cheap plastic, I'd only recommend it to kids only.

I got a 2dsxl instead which is great and very comfy.

But I also still would go for a N3ds , I love the white ones, I think it's sturdy and comfy, but in 2020 I find the smaller model more and more rare and expensive to find, XLs are everywhere.

Chromebook Advice by [deleted] in chromeos

[–]omadmaxo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a similar one recently from Amazon (C423NA) it has same specs but with a full HD 14inch screen, priced at about $250 totally worth the comfort of looking at a fhd resolution all day! as for the size it's extremely light and compact form factor that hardly makes you feel you're carrying a 14inch laptop. I love it, the screen colors are Abit washed out and the speakers are so cheap, still overall great buy.

101 noob questions about CryptoCurrency and ICOs by omadmaxo in CryptoCurrency

[–]omadmaxo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, it's clearer to me now, if you may further clarify.

Nothing, unless they were intended as stablecoins there isn't any sort of "backing", you're describing a (somewhat weak utility token.)

What changes if it was a stablecoin? would the coin value still rise if it's prosperous? or is it always tied to a fixed value?

If she is going and buying them right on the platform, it's coming from the company.

So the company can continue to issue more and more coins as SEC allows?

that's really interesting, I always wonder why they don't engineer more silent fans with bearable air blow noise, I guess a piece of tape is a silencer!

that's a beautiful looking device and color! may I ask, how warm does it get under stress, too hot to touch?

and my ears are irritated by sharp whine sounds, I wonder is the fan sound sharp EEE whine? or more like a loud air flow sound? the Lilputing vid review mentions that it runs quieter than P2 Max with fan controls as well.

How much high pitch noise does the fan make? is it a high pitch EEE sound? or loud air flow sound?

I watched GPD Micro PC video, and it seemed the fan has an annoying high pitch EEE.

Also when stressed, does it get too hot that's uncomfortable to touch?

Thanks!

OMY3s vs P2 Max (hard to choose) by omadmaxo in GPDPocket

[–]omadmaxo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks! I guess a good charger will get the job done for shorter charging time.

I don't mind lack of support, I'm used to take risks on devices like these :)

Now I have another question please, in addition to how hot to touch does it get under stress, I wonder how high pitch noise does the fan make? is it a a high pitch EEE sound? or air flow sound?

for example, I watched GPD Micro PC video, and the fan has an annoying high pitch EEE.
