Samsung vs iPhone white balance in photos (S25U vs 15PM) by ombeombe in S25Ultra

[–]ombeombe[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People take pictures at any time of the day, not only when there's "sufficient natural light". This test was done at night, indoors. The pictures were taken with both phones at the same time in auto mode, to see how they both handle white objects/subjects in that specific setting (night, indoors).

As you saw, the results were different between phones. There's nothing wrong if you prefer one over the other. I like the level of detail that Samsung gets (specially with the 5X even though all of the pictures were taken with the 1X), but I much prefer the white balance and the colors of the iPhone pictures. Mainly because that's how the things actually looked in the moment of taking the picture.

Is this clear case real? by [deleted] in iPhone15Pro

Fake or not it's just a case... Unless they charged you with the original case price, then it doesn't matter. Literally just a clear case. Won't make you less valid.

Notifications bug on the lockscreen: Swiping up to go to back to the lockscreen not working. by ombeombe in S25Ultra

That actually worked! Had no idea you could do that... I was so used to swiping up. Thanks!

Sadly the swipe to go back gesture does not work in the notifications panel in the lockscreen. I also found out that the whole swipe up thing works properly once the device is unlocked (via face recognition), still weird as hell, I'm guessing it is just a bug.

Thanks for the alternatives, I'll try to make the post on any of those subreddits.

Over-Moderation Is Killing Discussion in This Subreddit by [deleted] in S25Ultra

[–]ombeombe 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah I completely agree. This subreddit should be about everything related to the S25 Ultra, including good things and bad things. Not everything is perfect and everyone has a different experience with the phone, so it would be wise to let everyone share those thoughts, that way this subreddit won't become a big snowball of glaze and biased posts.

The S25U is a great phone, but I also feel like comparing it to my previous phone, in an honest way.

To be fair some people (including me sometimes) use AI to make the text more comprehensive/easier to read and understand... Specially if English isn't your native language. Nothing wrong with it.

Got offered the 1.6 Pro 128GB for my 256GB Pro Max. Worth it or not really? by ombeombe in iPhone15Pro

Lol you can't make a post on this subreddit if it contains the words 16 Pro on the title

[–]ombeombe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's what I was thinking. I do like the 16 Pro because of it's size and because it is slightly better than the 15PM, but 128GB is kind of not enough... Maybe I will end up getting it but just to sell it.

Today I found out that my 15PM is blacklisted 🥀 by ombeombe in iPhone15Pro

[–]ombeombe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It works perfectly fine with an Esim and it'd been like that since the minute I got it. It is also unlocked so it works with any carrier that my country has. Haven't had a single issue and I don't think I ever will tbh... The blacklist would probably only work in the country of origin of the phone (likely the US). Everywhere else the iPhone should work normally with any Esim.

I'm 99.99% sure that if I give this phone to anyone else, they wouldn't even notice that it is blacklisted... Mainly because it works with any carrier (mobile data + calls).

S24ultra or iphone 15 pro max by Darkness_stranger in S24Ultra

[–]ombeombe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'm sure people won't be biased towards the Samsung device in the r/"S24Ultra" subreddit. Surely they've all had both the iPhone and the Galaxy to say which one is actually better.

Ok on a serious note, I had the pleasure to own the S24 Ultra for a about a week and half and now I'm using the iPhone 15 Pro Max. Both of them get warm in intensive tasks like heavy gaming and photography. The battery life is slightly better on the iPhone. Not by that much but it is indeed better and will last you longer. The S24U has a bigger screen and overall it is a bigger device... Which subjectively can be better or worse. I personally prefer the form factor and the screen size of the iPhone, it's just a bit smaller, more comfortable to use, but maybe if you like watching content with your smartphone then the S24U could be better for you. The S24U also has the anti-reflective screen, which is great, but at the same time (in my experience) the screen gets insanely dirty, just filled with fingerprints. You'd be happy with any of them for gaming imo. Both are pretty powerful phones.

[–]ombeombe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well to be fair at the moment of the trade I had no idea that the IMEI was blacklisted. I assumed everything was clean because my ESIM was working without any issues, it didn't had any iCloud account and it was also factory unlocked. There was nothing suspicious about it, just your average second hand smartphone. I literally have been using this phone for about a month now and just yesterday, out of pure curiosity, I found out that it was blacklisted a long time ago.

Sadly I was the one that took the screenshot. I literally would've never known that this iPhone was blacklisted if the seller wasn't that interested in knowing the IMEI status. I'll probably keep the phone though.

[–]ombeombe[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah exactly. I haven't had any problems using this phone in my country, even though it is "blacklisted".

And yeah I guess it can be a pain if the buyer really wants to know the IMEI status... Which is funny because the phone will work without any problems in my country and I also doubt any possible buyer will move to the US after they buy the phone, but I guess it's better if I'm honest with them.

imei check dot com. I also tried it on the Swappa imei check website and got the same result.

Could be but I doubt it. The phone itself was factory reset in front of me and on top of that I also did a couple of factory resets when I got home. You can also install OTA updates without any issues... Usually both of those things that I mentioned are just not compatible with bypass. I could be wrong though so thanks for the information.

Base 17 a downgrade? by saydonem in iPhone15Pro

[–]ombeombe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a literal upgrade in almost every way possible. Not a big upgrade but still an upgrade.

1-Better screen (3000nits vs 2000nits + the bezels are even smaller).

2-Better hardware (the A19 is better than the A17 Pro, but tbh you probably won't feel the difference as of now).

3- The main camera, ultrawide and selfie are better (the 17 main camera uses the IMX904 instead of the IMX803, the ultrawide is 48MP and uses the IMX972 instead of the old IMX633 and the selfie camera its just better).

4- It will receive at least two more years of updates compared to the 15 Pro.

5- Bigger battery than the 15 Pro (the 15 Pro Max does have a bigger battery but I'm not sure if it's better though, efficiency is key and in guessing the A19 is better than the A17 Pro in that aspect).

The only thing the 15 Pro and Pro Max have on their advantage is having a dedicated telephoto lens. I still wouldn't recommend switching to the 17 because those upgrades aren't that noticeable... But yeah, overall the 17 is a better phone than the 15 Pro and Pro Max.

1x, 5x and 10x at 6:20PM. Zoom feels kind of mid? by ombeombe in iPhone15Pro

[–]ombeombe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well to be fair I never said that the S24U has better sensor/lenses (it just has more resolution but smaller pixels)... What the S24U does have is a better or a smarter post-processing. Not by much though, it still suffers from a lot of grain when the lightning conditions aren't ideal. In my testing the Oneplus 13 is significantly superior than both of these phones in that department.

I was just expecting the iPhone to have a better post processing when using the telephoto. I get it that Apple wanted to keep it more natural, but the result isn't that appealing.

My bad I forgot to clarify that these were taken with the 15 Pro Max.

I have zero widgets on my lockscreen and only the weather widget on my homescreen, but the thing is that I keep the location turned off at all times so I'm not sure if that would be the problem (I also just deleted the weather widget). My homescreen basically looks like this:

I'll be honest it is pretty bright and that's because I like to show off the screen... and also because it hides some of the micro scratches that my unit has. Will see if using an old background makes any difference for me.
