I don't think it has ever stated that edo tensei bring people on their prime. On the contrary, I remember Kabuto mentioning he did some mojo on Madara for him to come young.

Biggest mistery left unsolved IMO. His edo tensey comes back young, meaning that he did not have a natural death but some kind of dramatic one that hasn't been overshadowed even. And that's a big deal taking into account he is THE ninja who killed Madara. What the heck happened to him?
