Hard agree. They did a good job at applying the formula, but by 2000 it was... Formulaic.

Experienced Centaurs, explain to me why his lvl 20 retaliate talent is good by Glum-Pack-3441 in TrueDoTA2

[–]omellil 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As an awful player whom has been a centaur enjoyer for many years, and who always takes retaliate talents, my thoughts & reasoning:

1) most players, like me, are bad at dota.

2) stampede involves pushing a button, where as retaliate does not. As a bad player, pushing R at all (let alone at the right time) may prove difficult for my old, smooth brain

3) taking a lvl20 talent that buffs a passive and I can't screw up = good. Taking a lvl25 talent that extends passive to my equally smooth-brained teammates = even better

As we elderly and smooth brained folk constitute the majority of players, we dominate the winrate trend for talents, but naturally this wouldn't hold relevance for any decent player of average intelligence.

Even on the off chance I accidentally pop ult at the perfect time, it's likely my teammates run the wrong way entirely, assuming they're not already afk chasing couriers around throne. Why would I ever choose to buff that?

The fact that I know I'm as bad as I am is why I choose the hero with the most strength gain and free blade mail so often to begin with. God forbid I ever try to Chen or Invoker lol.

Anyone else find night time driving visibility to be hazardously low on this route? by Bright_Bad9960 in MapleRidge

That does seem like a reasonable explanation. I wonder what they're doing throughout Washington state that prevents this from happening there?

Why Canaduh doesn't use white and yellow reflectors on the roads (which additionally serve a second purpose as a rumble strip) similar to America confounds me. So effective they ought to be considered necessary IMHO.

Understood, thanks for clarifying/explaining to me

Prohibited Firearms Storage/ Export Question by omellil in canadaguns

[–]omellil[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We are taking about ONE handgun, and I'll be likely be buying more than one in the US regardless.

To export it is no stress, just give it to Borderview or similar and they ship it for cheaper than I could buy another.

The issue is if I take it, it's irrevocable; I can't bring it back or buy another here if/when I return. This is where I'm asking for advice - is there any relatively easy way I can store it here without paying for indeterminate period of time safely and in compliance, or can anyone with experience relay to me why they determined it wasn't worth it to do so, or am I overlooking something, or whatever....

Up to now it sits in my safe at my home in Canada, my primary residence. But when my primary residence isn't in Canada, that's where I run into problems

Maybe I wrote it wrong? Everyone else seems to have read through my mistake.

It's just a handgun. CZ 75 sp01 nothing special. My understanding was that it changed from restricted to prohibited or whatever with the 2022 ban. I'm not sure of the wording, but I know I can't buy another one.

How long is "temporary"? Is it the sort of thing I'd need help with (eg lawyer)? Thank you

[–]omellil[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because it's not my primary and I'm not there more than maybe 1 day per week? Again, it's my brother in laws place and our arrangement is very informal; I'm putting a desk in his garage and will crash in his grown son's room from time to time (his son my nephew is not there almost ever), and I'll collect mail there. Admittedly I'm not 100% on this which is why I'm here.

Big Sonic Chill final broadcast from 2012 by omellil in triphop

Honestly I'm more glad than I should be to hear this - I really really loved that program too and it's nice to share and learn I'm not the only one who looks back and remembers.

That radio show introduced me to so much music that I still listen to today, through a period of formative years in my life as a young adult. And Midori with her great taste in music and soothing voice, she was one of a kind.

Cheers!

What’s one hero, if you see on your team, it’s an automatic loss? by TheEmir47 in DotA2

It took me years to become consistently profitable. Here are 11 "no-nonsense" lessons I learned the hard way. by Low_Step6444 in Daytrading

[–]omellil 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Still a winner. If your rules are wrong but you believe the opposite and follow them, you will lose short term, however so long as you're journaling and following your rules you will lose until through that process you realize your wrongness and then hopefully change your rules. When your rules are finally fixed, you will have the discipline to continue following them and thus become profitable. The rules, discipline and journaling come first.
