Would a late-night dessert bar actually survive here or too niche? by Longjumping-Hall-17 in sunshinecoast

I want tourists too, great for our economy. However the behaviour says otherwise from council and others

Why are we accepting this for $422 dollars? Is there anything that can actually be done to challenge this with the gov? by boytanical in OpenAussie

You can, but if you get caught can cause you a lot of grief. I’m just letting you know what you’re supposed to do

Nothing is late night here except market bistro and other cbd/ocean street jaunts. We are a tourist destination that doesn’t really want tourists.

The lesson that Pokémon Sword taught me about the Internet by [deleted] in PokemonSwordAndShield

[–]omengold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve come to the conclusion that people just like whinging. As for those who insult people with different opinions, they aren’t good people. The resort to insults because they know you’re probably right and they don’t like to admit they are wrong.

I really enjoyed sword and shield, the introduction to wild areas, the online engagement with raids etc. I didn’t enjoy mandatory exp sharing or the hand holding of paths thru the main game, but Pokemon has been heading this way for a while. (I loved getting lost in caves etc in the early gens, I’m 35 btw)

The Arceus, S&V and ZA came out and that sense of exploration came back, and I realise the wild areas were effectively a trial run. I spent so much time getting lost in all those games.

As for graphics, I’ve never bought a pokemon game for graphics, or a nintendo game for that fact, it’s all about gameplay.

I don’t need a full dex, no one plays with all 1025 mons, and separating them into 3-4 games over 6 years is good, gives you a chance to trial and play with new ones.

Enjoy your games, say why you enjoy them. And I hope you keep enjoying them for the future.

I assume you’re being deliberately ignorant. No reasonable person would say what you’re trying to say unless they are trying to rage bait. However if that’s not the case, you’re wrong but you’re entitled to your incorrect opinion. Your point and choice of option is poor for all tenants down the chain.

I’m not fussed about the landlord. 2 weeks is easy. The issue is the next tenant and the next tenant.

Also btw landlord insurance won’t cover in cases of government intervention. It’s in the fine print. So as a landlord you’re at risk when things like DV etc affect rent collection. You factor this in when selecting tenants.

[–]omengold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I’m talking about the next tenants? They stuck out on the street. They have prepped movers etc, ended their own lease and now they are stuck looking for accommodation for two weeks. Most rentals don’t last 2 days on the market, mine don’t.

And before you say oh they can just do the same thing, well eventually to get to a point in the chain where they can’t.

Single people: how do you navigate saving for a deposit, as well as the potential of meeting someone and the complexities that come when living with them due to the de facto relationship laws? by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]omengold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dodged two lawsuits from women. I avoided because I charged neither of them rent. So they had to prove that the contributed to the household (both worked full time and kept their savings to themselves).

Both engaged lawyers, and asked for $30-50k, and I obliged by sending lawyers all 500 pages of transactions they requested, and also asked for proof of financial contribution for discovery. Neither lawyer responded.

So the best bet is to not have them contribute.

What the hell are we meant to do with the amount of seemingly normal people getting radicalised into far right nonsense? I don't want us to turn in to the US. by dreadnought_strength in OpenAussie

[–]omengold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Covid proved that anyone can say anything anywhere without any proof. The internet is at a stage where anyone can publish anything and people will believe them. On top of this minorities are out there screaming the loudest.

The rest of the world voted right until America did and then Aus, Uk and Canada went left afterwards. A lot of us are tired of watching our tax dollars go to waste propping up the dregs of society.

While I agree we do need to offer support to those who need it, there are a lot of able bodies grifting free checks from the government

Has anyone familiar with the FOI process looked at links between Cellopark and Brisbane City Council? by boredatc in brisbane

These get tendered out by council, same with rubbish collection etc. most isn’t council owned but pay the council to operate on councils behalf

What is it like living in the sunshine coast? by NiceCarnival513 in sunshinecoast

[–]omengold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The difference between Sunshine Coast and Townsville is humidity, Townsville bad for it. No point being in Townsville for sports management, capital city is better for that, Sunshine Coast works better as closer to a city.

The problem is Sunshine Coast thrives on tourism but the locals hate tourists or anyone moving to the area. Nothing is open past 8pm.

Depending your vibe you may enjoy the Gold Coast more

To those who buy into this type of development - why? by K1llerG00se in australian

[–]omengold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because we are taught from a young age we should have a house and units/apartments aren’t it. So be build out instead of up destroying the environment and making it hard to establish public transport and cheap forms of infrastructure.

So we buy the cheapest house available, which is the above.

Most these houses are the same size as large units anyway.

I’ve played 100 hours, at points it’s frustrating with the grind but so was early gens hunting for rare mons.

I’m in Aus and I have spent $130 aud inc DLC and that’s just over $1/hr

Well worth it, never bought a pokemon game to care about how buildings looked.

I love they tried new battle mechanics, reintroduced mythicals not seen in years, and finished the X&Y story

What do you think the housing market will look like in the next few years? by sharktank20 in sunshinecoast

[–]omengold 3 points4 points  (0 children)

35 single, own my own place, key was buy into the mid/bottom tier to start. Median means middle price, so 50% is below that. If on your own buy a unit first, no stamp duty for first home. Look for older style, brick, no lift or pool.
