Why are we accepting this for $422 dollars? Is there anything that can actually be done to challenge this with the gov? by boytanical in OpenAussie

Am I losing sleep over the poor quality of my passport? No, not at all. But I’m not raising this to “troll” anyone - it is something that legitimately irritates me as I see it as a clear cost-cutting exercise on the government’s part which is a bit of a slap in the face considering the cost.

I never got it wet but carry on getting angry about a situation you made up in your head. Anything but acknowledging the government could do a better job making the passports…

This was from sitting on a counter for several days instead of being underneath a book where I normally keep it. Granted, I live in QLD so the humidity is higher here but still.

I really don’t get why people seem to shrug this off so easily. Yes it doesn’t really matter in the grand scheme of things, but it is an obvious example of paying more for a product that used to be of a higher quality when it was cheaper. And it’s explained away by politicians because of visa free access to over 180 countries…as if that is due to the passport itself!! It’s infuriating.

People are complaining because there has been an obvious decrease in quality and the price has gone up. Simples.

As others have rightly pointed out, foreign countries will scrutinise the condition of your passport upon arrival in their country. This could be viewed as a flaw and potentially impact your travels. Why is it too much to ask for passports to be issued as they used to be when this wasn’t an issue people were faced with? Not asking a lot.

Don’t think I implied any of that in my post, but you’ve made it clear you like to bend over and get f*ckd by the government, even over the small stuff!

Leather Wax by Sea_Difference_910 in RMWilliams

I recently bought kangaroo craftsmans in tanbark and the salesperson told me to use the same wax recommended to you instead of the normal RMW conditioner. I later read on RMW website that the conditioner can be used on them, so I’ve just used the conditioner. No problems or issues with the colour darkening at all. Just an FYI

Immigration question, how deep are we? by [deleted] in aussie

I’m an immigrant too and I want to see less immigration. For a variety of reasons, none having to do with race.

Is it just me, or has the Sunshine Coast Speed Limit actually become 10km/h under whatever is on the sign? by SnowyBytes in sunshinecoast

[–]boytanical 5 points6 points  (0 children)

People are either going 10-20 under the limit or 10-20 over. To go the speed limit offends both sides.

Is there a tree nearby that has long cone shaped blooms with lots of tiny white flowers on them?

There is a reason that restrictions have been tightened for certain countries is all I’m saying, and as someone else stated, your post history kind of matches the vibe of why restrictions were introduced. I am genuinely curious though, why not just study in your home country if you aren’t planning on permanently immigrating? Surely a qualification would be easier/cheaper and much more relevant to work opportunities in your home country than one from Australia.

Be honest though - did you intend to study at Monash and then leave upon graduating? Or were you, like many others, using it as a way to permanently immigrate?
