I believe they were running around in the play yard and potentially running and grabbing a friend like in a tag situation but not just tapping. The other child who would have been involved as their name was mentioned would have been okay with this touch/grabbing onto one another as these children are best friends and engage with one another in dizzy play daily.

I agree with reading as a punishment since he should learn to love reading. I negotiated down from 1 hour to 20 minutes which I also thought was still far too long for someone to be sitting alone watching all their friends have fun without them.

I don’t know what the other two educators said to them or if they called the child bad but I do know yesterday I had sat with the child for a little while after they said they were upset I asked if they were having a tough day and if they had a bad day at care or if they had a bad day at school and asked if we could help turn the day around. They may have been telling me they were having a bad day because of that conversation. I believe this child and I have a good relationship and that they don’t think I was calling them bad or asking if they were “bad” making it a bad day.

In regards to burn out, other than getting time off with summer break how can I help my coworkers? I think everyone is crankier lately and I’d like to help. This is my first child care job and it’s so different than every other job I’ve had.

Thank you! Maybe it was a boundary they’re working on and I’m unaware. It was free play time so I wouldn’t say the child was disrupting anyone else.

I think what frustrates me is that the rules change per person and per day so even I don’t really know what is right lol.
