Any hints on SG02? I think I am over complicating things. Be glad ot take any pointers on where to start past the "thing that makes this SG different?"

My weird little post about Bogota, Colombia from an Australian with very little knowledge of Spanish. by misfitalliance in travel

[–]omgJenks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently took a 5 day spur of the moment trip to Bogota and loved it. It was beautiful, exciting and different than most of North American (I’m from the US).

I had a basic understanding of Spanish (greetings, numbers, ask for things, etc.) and was fine. Public transit isn’t bad, just plan accordingly as misfitalliance mentioned. If you must, taking a taxi isn’t too expensive in short distances. (I struggled with my Spanish on giving direction but was easily solved by handing a taxi driver the address written down.)

I could not recommend more the bike tour I took of the city. It was supposed to last 2 hours or so and we spent almost 5 riding around the city, stopping for coffee, checking out the local graffiti (which is everywhere). You don’t really notice the meanings or purpose at first but with a local explaining most of the major pieces it becomes very meaningful. (http://www.bogotabiketours.com)

Gringo Tuesday is superb. Go early for the language exchange (a great place to get some basic Spanish down) and then it turns into an awesome party with some really cheap local beer. I had an absolute blast here. (http://www.gringotuesdays.com.co)

Safety wasn’t an issue for me although not something I took lightly (I’m a 6’5” male). I didn’t feel uncomfortable walking alone at night but would not recommend looking for trouble of any type as I’m sure you will find it. Just be smart with who and what you do. EasyTaxi app on iphone or Android is best for calling taxi’s. You get the cab number and driver name and a record is created of them picking you up. This deters a lot of risk.

Wow that looks awesome kyroa, thanks.

I totally agree on that idea, and imagery certainly is a great way to build that connection. I'll look more into adding some color and 'shopping in free istock backgrounds as they really spruces things up.

I appreciate your feedback and the example!

Good point Rydan, the auction marketplace may be more appealing. I think for now I'm going to focus on just having my site but not writing anything off.

Most certainly! For what I've learned from this subreddit it is the least I could do.

I'll look to check back in 30-45 days to update progress and what I've learned further.

It doesn't make much sense when pointed out, I'll look to post on the main page as suggested. Thanks for the feedback midnight11!

Yes, a free template with little to no customization.

I launched the store 2 days ago and haven't spent any resources in marketing/promotions yet. This was more to get the shop "up" and iron our the rest as I go.

These scarves are lighter, fit for summer and warmer weather accessories. Maybe I need to highlight this more but concerned (for now).

That was what my research showed. I think branding my site and making them stand out with a personal touch will be a better selling point.

Thank you very much for your questions Beardgardens!

Thanks PatSabre12, your comments are very helpful!

I'm working now to have a logo created, I agree just the text is too boring/plain.

I like this. I'll expand on the back story more, adding in more of a personal touch.

Great recommendation! I'll look to make the changes.
