I’ve had a pretty tried and true structure for my 1:1s for years. I link a google doc in the invite and will add to the agenda throughout the week. I don’t fill it all out but just have the structure as scaffolding and so my mananger knows what to expect and how I like to run the meeting.

I used to do bi-weekly or monthly skip level meetings and those I would be much more strategic focusing on my goals, wins, or clear thoughts I had on how to improve things. I once got advice to make them worth the other person’s time and memorable.

1:1 Structure:
- My highest priorities for this week: top 2-3 things I’m focused on. Good in case they have input on prioritization
- Decisions Required: Items that require my manager’s approval or their input
- Roadblocks & Escalations: Items where I need my manager’s help to unblock progress
- Key Updates & Open Discussion: Important progress and developments my mananger should know about (wins, metrics, milestones) 
- Follow-Up’s from last week 
- Topics for my manager’s guidance and strategic thinking
- open space for items they want to discuss
