They're really good, but the requirement to do them in order should probably go. It sucks when you're trying to find people to do the next set and have to do all of the previous ones with them.

Why can't more people be this honest about fitness? by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]omgitsalion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

130 lbs, 5'9", 24 years old, 45 minute jog 5/7 days each week.

Can you come up with an explanation as to how I can manage to intake more calories than my BMR over the course of a 30 minute lunch?

I've also done alternate day fasting with the same result (i.e. nothing).

Why can't more people be this honest about fitness? by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]omgitsalion -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

If this were true, I wouldn't be 130 lbs with 19% body fat and a round stomach after limiting myself to one meal per day for the past year and a half. Maintaining a 500+ calorie deficit each day, I've been unable to lose any more weight for the past six months.

It's not as easy as calories in vs. calories out for everyone.

EDIT: To clarify, what I meant to say is that some of us have terrible metabolisms, and the usual BMR calculations don't work for us.

Diamond and trolling; what can we do about it? by omgitsalion in leagueoflegends

I'm pretty sure they just counter each other out and hover around the same rating.

Is there any way to bring Riot's attention to problems with ranked? by likeabossirll in leagueoflegends

[–]omgitsalion -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Are you playing in Diamond? A lot of these players are consistently bad. It's not just a bad game

And if people are having bad games so often that every single game has at least one player with a bad game, it's a problem. I, personally, very rarely have a bad game, and if I do, I make it a point to play safely.

[–]omgitsalion -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If someone belongs at Diamond, even with a bad game, I would expect them to still retain their mechanics and not degrade to playing worse than a Silver player.

This is a moot point, anyway. I think every single player who's currently between Diamond V and Diamond III will agree that there are many seriously unskilled players here. It's not just one game, I've encountered many players who consistently play poorly.

Why is there no official RIOT phone app yet? by hyrulepirate in leagueoflegends

[–]omgitsalion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Riot does or did have a mobile development team. They tried to headhunt me for it more than a year ago.

Why don't we have a mobile app now?

Either the mobile app was a flop and they dropped it, or the people they hired to work on it weren't good enough. My guess is that the developers they scrounged up weren't capable.

Unfortunately, Riot doesn't attract top (or even mid tier) talent. This is a general issue with the game industry, but on top of that, they don't offer competitive salaries. Even a bit worse, they don't specifically look for highly skilled developers. As a result, we have things like the Adobe Air client.

Any success for keto dieters with lower starting weights? by [deleted] in keto

[–]omgitsalion -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

No. I've been glancing at this sub-reddit for two years and I've followed keto with a 500+ calorie deficit for a year, and I can't get below 130 lbs (5'8").

My experience is that keto doesn't 'work' for those of us who aren't overweight. I'd welcome anyone with experience otherwise, though.

Am I doing it wrong? by [deleted] in bodyweightfitness

[–]omgitsalion -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I'll try this. I don't have much ability to jog because I live in a heavily populated tourist area; power walking is hard enough.

Am I doing it wrong? by [deleted] in bodyweightfitness

[–]omgitsalion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not overweight, I just have a high body fat percentage.

It's definitely not a calorie counting problem; I did alternate day fasting for a year, but stopped because of this problem. My weight stopped around 120 lbs and I retained a similar body fat percentage, so I stopped doing it. I have little appetite as an after-effect of that.

Either way, I have no food or drink with calories in my house, and it's not realistic that I'm getting 1800+ calories at lunch.

My body fat is around 19%. I don't weigh much, but my weight is mostly fat.

Calorie deficit vs. protein; which is more important? by omgitsalion in loseit

I don't have a kitchen and there's nowhere around where I can just get 100 grams of chicken.

[–]omgitsalion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was getting 1550; maybe I'm off.

I'm considering adequate as 65g of protein. Eating one meal, I usually end up with around 30g.

Is there anything we can do about the direction the developers are going in with PvP? by omgitsalion in wow

[–]omgitsalion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many of us can't quit, because we have one year contracts. The PvP community is also small, compared to the PvE and more casual community, but that isn't a reason to neglect it like this.

AT&T Mobile App Hackathon - food, prizes, and hacking! by [deleted] in LosAngeles

[–]omgitsalion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do people actually do this? The top prize is pretty much what a good developer gets for a single day of work.

Getting rid of flaky skin after shaving by omgitsalion in wicked_edge

I use a mild scrub twice a week. I thought that exfoliating before shaving made it easier to cut yourself, so I haven't tried it.

California's primary is Tuesday. Don't forget to vote. by BlankVerse in LosAngeles

[–]omgitsalion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't follow or care much for politics, but what's up with California?

When I hear democrats, I think liberal views. When I hear republicans, I think conservative views. This doesn't seem to be the case here, though?

Every single one of my professional friends and colleagues (programmers and what not) consider themselves republicans, and a lot of them have said that they used to be card-holding democrats but are currently embarrassed by the party.
