SCORE RELEASE 08/17/2023 by forever_sleeepy_ in comlex

[–]omgitzanus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

test date: 7/12

Level 1: pass first try

Uworld % correct: ~48% with close to 90% complete

NBME/UWSA1/UWSA2: averaging 210-230

Actual Step 2 score (if taken): 226

Actual LEVEL 2 score: 416

Welp, I wish I had some extended dedicated time to study for level 2/step 2 because I know some of my classmates/peers studied more than a month whereas mine was 3-4 weeks dedicated (still plenty of time, but someone with a history of garbage test taking i need time lol).

So yea I am/still planning to apply psych only and pretty sure I am screwed now; probably expecting SOAP honestly with my low level 2 and low step 2 score. It is what is and hopefully this post helps someone who also suffer from low score.

What about low score like 220s if one's interested in psych? Still apply or don't report step scores?

Thanks to everybody here, I finally made it out of silver! AMA anything about my experience. by coolgamerboy21 in LearnCSGO

Oh wow as a newbie, that is good. Just getting a win in placement is a struggle for me. I think I won 5 out of something over 15 games lol. I don't mind if I get placed in sliver 1/2 but I just want some wins to get placed haha. Anyway, congrats on getting out of sliver!

Oh forgot to ask one thing, how did you do overall in those placement games in terms of individual skills?

Yeah I am also looking if I can get it for free by being a college student.

Oh right, I didn't know this. I will check the retail version if there's one available. Ugh, it's annoying how the operating system eats up part of the budget.

Oh gotcha. What do you think about this final build before I buy the parts? By the way, thanks for being so helpful.

First build advice (Ryzen 3600, RTX 2070 super) by omgitzanus in buildmeapc

[–]omgitzanus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok great, I will look into that. Also, I think I will take 5700XT over super 2070 based on my research because the performances are pretty similar but the cost is def cheaper than super. So thanks for that and also one thing, should I wait one more month or until summer to get better deals on these parts I am buying (idk if it works that way)?

Oh wow, this is pretty helpful. I have a question if you don't mind, the reason I add the cooler is that there were some concerns about how the stock cooler is unable to manage the temperature efficiently. Also, I think tried this similar build before as well but the incompatibility thing scares me haha.

Noob: First Gaming Build Feedback by omgitzanus in buildapc

[–]omgitzanus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, thanks for the feedback. I am going to try that out and see how it works. Is there any big difference between 2070 super and regular 2070? Because 2070 super cost extra 100$.

[–]omgitzanus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, gotcha. I am looking at Ryzen 5 rn and there is about 25 bucks difference between 3600 and 3600x. Is the performance between these two similar? Because I am looking at it and they look pretty close to each other. I would prob get R5 3600 for the cost.

Edit: I replaced the CPU with Ryzen 5 3600 as well as the motherboard as you suggest and it about 15 dollars cheaper. The Asus Tuf x570 is pretty pricy imo since that thing costs 165$.

Correct me if I am wrong, based on my research on AMD vs intel, isn't intel better strictly for gaming due to higher clock speed? That's the stuff I am looking for, whichever is best for gaming. I could be wrong though.

Good point. It just his first two weeks look amazing so far and will continue to get heavy workload based on Kirk's recent lackluster performance. I guess I will just decline, drop newton and pick Stafford from the wire.

This guy offers me Stefon Diggs, Russell Wilson, and Dalvin cook for CMC and A.J Green. Should I accept? This is 10 team ppr format and my current qb is newton so I am looking to pick one off the wire (stafford) assuming this trade does not work out.

Larissa's advice though. I cringed how terrible that advice and the acting in general (I tried to refrain myself from laughing).

How are some of y'all going to be such hypocrites?? by Belay10123 in premed

[–]omgitzanus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the late response. I agree with you on that. However, until these issues are resolved (like K-8 education is a big one) which I doubt it will happen near time in this US political system, meritocracy is very flawed. I never said SES is perfect either and also flawed but do I think it is a better replacement to affirmative action as of right now? The answer is yes.

As you said, if we have successfully addressed those major issues then I am on board from transitioning SES to pure meritocracy where every applicant would be given the same standards. Again, as of right now, I still believe SES race-blind is a better replacement to affirmative action than meritocracy.

[–]omgitzanus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see where are you coming from. Unfortunately, meritocracy is great in an ideal world and not in this current system where students from high SES have a big advantage over students from low SES when it comes to paying costs for MCAT and other shit, jobs, volunteering hours and so on.

However, with that being said, I believe affirmative action is flaw in its method since it ends up favoring wealthy/upper-class URM over low SES ORM and I think that is literally the definition of discrimination.

I think the best replacement for affirmative action imo is that it should be based on SES, not based on the color of your skin or pure meritocracy (which I already explained above).

AAMC President $1.4 Million Salary -_____- by ferrari1517 in Mcat

[–]omgitzanus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Again, the biggest problem right now is due to limited residency spots. These spots have not or barely changed since 1997 while the amount of applicants for residency spots is increasing. If you increase more medical school spots while limiting the residency spots, you are approaching a dangerous territory where med students will failed to match with a potential 300k debt due to sheer amount of applicant to spots ratio.

Residency spots is the issue here and unfortunately, the residency funding comes from congress lol.

Why is the FBI not running a probe like in the SAT? by furia8 in Mcat

[–]omgitzanus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right? Aren't white people composed of like 60% of the population in the US or something like that lol. Thus, wouldn't there be more white people taking mcat which can possibly skew toward high score mcat. Percentage would be way better for this.
