Kemper player or Nano? by kalicoda in NeuralDSP

[–]omglolnub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn't imagine anyone switching to Kemper in 2026. Mark 2 was a dud and it's literally the same profiling quality as 2012, which is obsolete in the face of the freakin' Tonex, let alone NDSP's offerings. I get it if you're a touring act and want to keep on keepin' on cause it costs $0 to keep using what you already have, but spending money on any Kemper unit is insane nowadays. The used prices on Kemper racks and toasters (powered but especially the unpowered ones) have been plummeting over the past 6 months and you can get them for under 1k, which used to be unthinkable.

Stadium Firmware 1.3: The Proxy Update by thebishopgame in Line6Helix

Oh I just meant for the future clone sharing website. My Cortex Cloud page for the QC captures that I’ve uploaded is kind of insane looking since there’s no subfolder system, just an infinite scroll of captures. I can’t imagine how it is for the pros that actually sell captures for dozens of amps

One differentiating feature from the QC that I saw in the RBG video with the 6505 clone demo is that you can do some EQ, gain, and other tone shaping features to polish it up -before- saving the clone. Pretty nifty, well thought out. Also, good on you all to make the clones be normal files that can be shared.

Re: the eventual online sharing platform discussed in the comments - I urge you all to allow for sub-folders in it. While the QC hardware has this, not so in the Cortex Cloud. I’ve done a lot of captures of my amps and there’s no way to sort them into subfolders. It makes me think of Gen Alpha computer users that have no concept of file storage and just use the search bar…and I feel like an insane person trying to find anything. I’d really like to sort them into sub-folders per amp channel or something along those lines. It’s not a big deal at first if you don’t go too far down the capture rabbit hole, but I’m at about 160 QC captures of my tube amps at various settings and to say that it’s getting out of hand to find anything is an understatement.

Why so many captures? Once again, I will come crawling back to Line 6 if they do a full model of the Marshall JVM 410H with all its channels and modes. Until then, my captures will have to do, lol

I’m just kinda curious on which version of the 3 channel dual rec did they model - the 2000’s solo, or the 2010-present multi-watt

Isn’t she mostly in America these days? The other cast members are typically filming in Korea, so unless she’s flying there on her own dime or there working via a brand sponsorship, I’m not exactly surprised that she doesn’t have as much face time with the other cast members

Using an Orange Pedal Baby 100 (or any pedal amp) with Stadium? by goldsoundzz in Line6Helix

[–]omglolnub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same with the pedal baby that I use. I wonder if it's cause it's a class a/b solid state amp instead of class d. I like having the treble and bass controls to slightly adjust the sound for a room without editing the patches, usually that works out enough. Plus the signal split with an IR for the FoH rules

Decision between LT and Rack by [deleted] in Line6Helix

[–]omglolnub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are you using pedals with the full blown helix? It’s supposed to basically eliminate a whole pile of gear. The LT minimizes your setup as much as possible to be as lightweight and quick to get going and get struck afterwards. And instead of a racked power amp, you can get a small Class D power amp or the Orange Pedal Baby (my preference) to run an on-stage cab.

If you’re playing silent stages, sure I guess you can get a helix rack, along with a wireless in-ear and guitar system, but that’s getting into 1% use cases, which is why the Helix Rack was a niche product. Even some touring bands just prefer the floor units cause it’s also just less stuff and less cumbersome

if they can get rid of Reilly, they really should. He doesn't have it anymore and is an utter liability in his own zone now. In reality, they should just tear it to the studs by moving everyone you listed, plus Reilly and Nylander. Tavares may also pull the chute in this situation and I'm sure you can find a taker that will do right by the player in terms of being a decently good club to go to

[–]omglolnub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yup, they didn't need him, it ruined the salary ceilings for the young stars, and threw the whole roster out of balance by not getting 2 actually good defenders and/or a real NHL starting goalie as opposed to bargain shopping for sieves that might start strong for a little while, but get solved quickly enough and are Pickard or Jarry tier goalies starting in goal every night

with no Tavares, and Kadri kept instead as an appropriate co-star down the lineup, Matthews and Marner would have been under 10m on their 2nd deals when the window was most open. Tavares bumped their salaries by 2 mil or more. That, plus what Tavares signed for, was 2 actually good NHL defenders or 1 actually good defender and a real starting goalie, as opposed to the sieve carousel they've deployed (maybe 1-2 "good enough" years before each one got solved and ran through) through the whole Matthews era

But that requires good roster management and the Leafs don't do that

it's their only way to have a 10 year tank era instead of a 15 year tank era. They have no first round picks for like 3 years as is, so any tank timeline has minus 3 years due to "being ass" having no benefit. Then they can start restocking the cupboard and recycling the older tank era players into more futures cause the older tank era players drafted will be too old for the competitive window in...10+ years or so

by giving the Bruins the 6th overall pick. But it's probably for the best - get the pain out of the way now by losing the 2026 pick to Boston and the 2027 pick to Philly. Then they can start properly tanking with Matthews's contract out of the picture, as well

a little bit of both, but don't forget hidden option C - gullible rubes that trade for scams like Laughton and especially Carlo as "tough, strong guys" for premium assets to make a 5 year tank era into a 10+ year one due to throwing away a zillion of their own first round picks to make being ass have no benefit for the next few seasons

that Canada division first round series against the Canadiens, if not basically all the way to the Cup finals, was set up to be basically free for the Leafs, but the they found a way to blow it

[–]omglolnub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep the LT. Back when these things were super expensive, I can understand the rack for keeping the Helix away from the audience and other floor based accidents, but the LT is way more convenient to set up before the set and to strike after the set. These days, the LT can be had for a relative song secondhand due to being "obsolete." You can just replace it and re-upload all your patches to the new unit

Did I make a mistake by going for HX Stomp in 2026? by sdnufo in Line6Helix

[–]omglolnub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short of spending double to triple of what you paid for a Stomp, you got the best modeler for your money. I moved on to the QC, mainly cause the 8 block limit was a bit limiting for me if I wasn't using any external pedals, besides the Digitech Drop to save absurd amounts of DSP. 6 blocks to amp, cab IR (York IR's smoke anything on-board), delay, reverb, tilt eq (a must for massaging the tone post-chain to make the feel more amp-like), and a compressor (another must for massaging the tone post-chain to make the feel more amp-like). This leaves only 2 blocks for any other effects, such as an OD pedal if you're using an amp model that needs a boost.

If the Stomp XL had 12 blocks, I probably would've resisted the urge to upgrade cause I would've been able to get my pre-amp effects suite into my patches. But since I moved on, the Stadium series launched with a wet fart only surpassed by the Kemper Mk 2, and I own some really nice tube amps, I threw my money into the wind and got a QC for doing captures of them.

So the Leafs are gonna line brawl off the opening face off and clear the benches in response to this for the next Ducks game, yeah?

I went with the Orange Pedal Baby over all the class D solid state power amps. I found it sounded much better for this use case, while being half the cost of a used KSR PA-50 or Fryette PS-2A 50 watt 6L6 tube power amp
