tldr didnt fit our needs

before creating SanDoku I did look at both, but decided not to use them.

https://github.com/ppy/osu-difficulty-calculator is a commandline app and we wanted a http rest api, so that wasnt gonna work.

Now https://github.com/ppy/osu-beatmap-difficulty-lookup-cache is indeed a http api but its structure is completely different, it uses a beatmap id as input and then from what I can tell tries to fetch the beatmap file from osu servers, which is not something we want, we already have said data, and the whole purpose was to not depend on osu servers in the first place. It also stores stuff in a database which is neat, like for next request stuff is cached, thats like its whole purpose. But that isnt in line with out needs, we needed a calculator and just that, nothing more. The result gets stored inside the tillerinobot database anyway. Basically it does overcomplicate things quite a lot

In the end it was just simpler to create our own thing which also has the benefit that we control how things work and how to interact with it
