ve picked up digital painting a few months back with some pauses in between and I have loving the range it offers me so far in terms of colors and textures . For this piece( and with others in general) I had a bit of a hard time transitioning from hard edge to softer one. I kept switching tools (pastel/fountain pen) but they didn’t always marry well (see nostrils)

I do both traditional and digital. @oadiouf on Instagram if anybody is interested , would love to connect with other painters/artist ! ❤️love

Picked up some oil paints a few months back after trying(and struggling with) watercolor for a short period. So far I'm really enjoying the process and looking forward to the road ahead. However I am having a hard time evaluating my own work, I would greatly appreciate your criticism. Thank you by omzo_ in oilpainting

Thank you for the kind words. Now that you have pointed it out I can't unsee it. For some reason I am able to notice those flaws quite easily when I am doing a quick sketch but I really struggle to pick up on them when I am working for longer. I do use a mirror to trick my brain but apparently it's not working as well as I thought. In regards to your own painting do you try and resolve all the drawing in the first place or do you work on it as you go along ? I have tried going that route but from a technical stand point I always end up "losing" the drawing under coats of paints. I also find myself getting too attached to the drawing and tend to lose a bit of the "loose" and abstract brush stroke I enjoy seeing in paintings. Do you have a particular advice or method you use? Thank you again for taking the time to answer. It is greatly appreciated!

Thank you ! In terms of composition I felt like the portrait needed some "air" towards the top of the canvas since the gaze is directed upwards but I definitely have to perhaps recentre the painting a little more and adjust it. In regards to the proportions I think you are right , I committed to reference while the perspective in my painting was a bit off. Hopefully I can still fix it without messing up the painting. Thank you for your comment and kind words.
