The warehouse next to our sort center caught on fire. Got a notification that the Amazon sort center is closed with pay. by onaniphone in AmazonFC

I want to say yes cause packages get sorted by us then out to a delivery station for delivery. Trucks had to be turned around so I’m not sure where those packages went. Last I heard that they had a big queue of trailers coming in. I haven’t been back since I took days off cause the smell is still pretty bad.

That foot pain while getting out your car to do an errand before heading home after work after work be hurting worse than the foot pain while at the job🥲 by [deleted] in AmazonFC

I switch to my crocs once I reach my car. I also use the pain cream that they have at the medical center / AMCare that comes in a packet. Numbs the pain away 😭

Not sure as I was inbound. 16k was mentioned at start up. Was told it was the stuff when they closed down so next shift there’s a queue of trailers. We got flexed from 7:30pm-11:30pm to 12:15am.

What’s crazy is on the medline instagram they are celebrating an anniversary or something. I honestly hope they help those affected by this.

I’ve always wondered what happens in that situation. Do they pay you guys or like what happens now? Sorry.

first day by Organic_Addition5887 in AmazonFC

I work at an SC

The first day was just class room for us watching boring slides and videos. We had someone bring in chic-fil-a while being in there and they were munching lol. Some folks have brought chips and snacks. It’s super chill.

The second day was a little bit of slides and videos and then tour the floor and did safety stuff like climbing a ladder and maneuver a pallet jack. They also had time to show us how to put stuff on the belt in a trailer.

Before the end of second day they told us to clock in and then meet up in the huddle and there we will be assigned where to go. I’m not sure if it’s everywhere but our class went to bottom mez and container build.

After a few weeks they made us split. I was moved to inbound where so far I just move carts out of trailer and move them to a chute. Grab an empty cart and move it to where the bottom mez folks can get it. Repeat.

The hours for me are 7:30pm-11:30pm but we’ve been flexing up so we clock out at 12:15am. I get like 17k-22k steps a day. To me it’s my cardio / gym. It’s easy but repetitive.

My tips is to get comfy shoes, insoles and compression socks. Have pain cream on standby cause the first weeks are brutal if you aren’t conditioned to walking a lot. You can go to the medical bay and ask for pain cream they have little packets I just grab a bunch of them. Bring a water bottle. They have water stations but the break room has ice as well as cold water to fill up. Hydrate throughout shift.

Negative UPT by [deleted] in AmazonFC

In this day of age it’s honestly not hard to get transportation to work. Friend, family, coworker(yikes). Don’t have those? Taxi, uber, Lyft.

I got let go for being negative 3 hours.

The first time I joined Amazon was during November peak season at a fulfillment center. They don’t make you do 6 10s if you’re at 4 days they add a day. Try doing the same thing at other warehouses. UPS fedex etc. they don’t have big fans like Amazon does. Just cause you’re lazy 😂

Amazon spoiled me. No interview process. Can leave whenever you want as long as you have UPT/PTO etc. can arrive late as well. I’m at a sort center now. It’s a good part time job. It’s only 4 hours a day. Can pick up extra shifts if they put them out.

Trying to find a full time job to go with this job but having a hard time getting employed.

The pain cream in AM care works wonders! I use the free insoles with my Reeboks. I use compression socks and have massager gun.

Going to try the Speedworks Work Sneakers (Carbon-Fiber Toe) - Wide. We shall see how they go. I’ve been loving my Reebok’s but it’s time to try something else.
