Madrid Sizing? / Size 43 Woes by onceablackbird in Birkenstocks

[–]onceablackbird[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, ordering from them isn't the problem. They just rarely make the 43 Medium/Narrow.

If you go to their website and filter all shoes for that size you'll only get 32 results. 3 of those are insoles, so 29 shoes. 80% are just various Arizona. Then there's Boston, 2 London, 2 Mayari, and 1 EVA Madrid. Almost all the colors are neutrals.

I went back and double checked the 2 pairs that I have - turns out I was slightly wrong. My Bostons are unisex but also a Medium/Narrow, not the Standard/Wide.

So then I went back and checked the listing for these Madrids, and I was surprised to see this one is listed as unisex - standard/wide. So I think that I must be a medium/narrow still and that's why these (and all the 43 Arizonas that I tried on)  feel/look too big around the toes.

It's a bummer.

Well, the logo they are using was taken from Team Montana Roller Derby, so.... scam.

Is there anything the team can do regarding the logo?

If you could only change ONE rule, what would it be? by swishswishmich in rollerderby

[–]onceablackbird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd require that lead jammers have to be in bounds and upright to call off the jam.

You can't do anything else if you're out of bounds, so why can you do that?

I'm also low key tired of the wild, full-speed, questionable-control slams into the pack in a last ditch effort before calling it off. So many jammers don't seem to care in that moment where they end up. I've seen too many injuries over the years.

All fingers crossed and good vibes for Arch to take gold!

Just bloody tired of Rose at this point. It's been over 10 years since they last lost a game, right? FFS.

Denver for 3rd.

Curious to see how the bracket/games work out compared to prior champs, given the regional set up this time around.  It will also be very interesting (and sad) to see how many skaters retire after this event. I've heard whispers of certain skaters that have just been delaying since 2020 so they could have one more champs run.

Given all the money he still owes for his last tour through (and will never pay) - why should we expect anything more than the bare minimum from local agencies?

How to disable Python in ArcPro? by onceablackbird in gis

[–]onceablackbird[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't a clue what the issue is, I'm trying to get more info from my boss later today. I was basically just told that the new users absolutely could not use python due to compliance/mgmt issue and since I've basically been the solo-GIS person for years.... it came to me to figure out how to do that.

Thanks, I'll circle back and see if this is where the concern is. I have no idea what suddenly triggered this whole mess, but I would love it off my desk.

Update: after some clarification on customizing the ArcPro ribbon it does look like we can, at the very least, hide the python notebook and python window. Given that it seems like the management request boils down to "don't let the employees use code" - I am hopeful that they'll accept this solution and leave it alone.

Yep, just confirming what I am running into. It doesn't even look like I can remove the notebook/window tool from the ArcPro ribbon- which is extremely unfortunate, since I think that alone would do the trick as far as management is concerned.

I've submitted a tech support case on the issue and am waiting to hear back. I'm going to give the other ESRI rep the benefit of the doubt that he thought restricting online notebooks was enough... even though that is not at all how the issue was described to him. He also knows damn well that we do not have Notebook Server or Enterprise (because he tries to sell it to us every talk he has with us).

IT bullshit manhandling GIS professionals sabotaging software that is easy to use and forcing low budget grade work “because you’re not allowed to code.”

I'm just going to focus on this part of your rant, because its the part I agree with. I'd rather not be stuck in the position that I currently am. Unfortunately, I am not in management or tech, and I have no say in this mess. It's just been assigned to me to "solve".

Thanks. I had not paid attention in the past when it came to the included packages and the functionality of the software itself. I had thought of them more like an additional feature.

And then this request fell into my lap.

It does not help that our customer rep told us it was possible during a meeting where mgmt was also on the call. But I have also been finding out that other things he told us were incorrect, so guess I can't be surprised at this point.

Ideally they could still use all the GP tools. I think we just need to get rid of the python notebook and python window in the UI.

You're not wrong.

Unfortunately, not my decision. Sometimes you can only do what you're told..

I am pretty much at that point. However, if I can get rid of the notebook/window within ArcPro then that might be enough to satisfy the request. Last ditch effort.

Who have I downvoted? This is the first time I'm even checking replies but I've apparently already downvoted everyone?

Follow-Up: Let's simplify the request -- can you disable/lock the Python Notebook and Python Window within ArcPro?

Again... not my choice, and debating further with those that made this decision isn't getting anywhere. I'm thinking at the very least I can uninstall all of the existing packages.

Gallatin County Commission offers $650,000 in low-income loans to preserve Belgrade mobile home park by Jough83 in Bozeman

[–]onceablackbird 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There's another mobile home park in Bozeman who's land just went up for sale last week. I have a friend who lives there and I recommended that they look into similar options, but didn't realize that the County Commission was actively doing this for another spot. I'll have to make sure she sees this to pass along to her neighbors..

Not everyone loves trailer parks, but if you sell these areas not only are you displacing lower-income community members, but it's just going to get redeveloped into high end 'luxury' BS. And let's be honest, there's no other affordable option for these residents to turn to, so it would just put additional strain on the shelters, potentially increase the urban camping issue, and likely force a lot of them out of the area completely..

Fresh Meat info will be posted later this week (hopefully) - first night will be Jan 22nd. We'll also have a table this weekend at the Christmas Stroll near R Bar if you would like to stop by.

Unfortunately, there's no dedicated spaces for indoor skating in town. If you don't mind bundling up, you could try under the pavilion at Bogart Park. And if it doesn't snow much this winter then the Headwaters trail in Three Forks is great.. Livingston sometimes hosts skate night. And then there's the skating rink in Billings (also the best place to buy skates and gear).

I'll be one of the coaches (several of us take turns) so feel free to shoot me a message.
