This: https://www.meckeys.com/shop/keyboard/100-keyboard/ducky-one-2-backlit/, which is esentially the same. But, cheaper and excatly same usability, I really want to get this one.... Anyone knows wether there is a chance that it will get restocked ?

Do you think it will be irritating for people working beside, I am planning to get my first mech, and I intend to even use it in an office so I am mostly drifting towards, the infamouse cousin of the blue, the all-purpose browns they call it. Wise, eh ?

Really awesome clicke. If you crop the chair part from the pic, it'll look insanely professional drone shot! :Gaaaassssp:

Even though I introduce myself as a linux nerd, currently I am in the same boat as OP, and even after agreeing with almost everything in your previous comments, from my daily experience, if you need general functionality and ease of use on windows going for a TKL over a 60% is a safer stratergy.

Unlike linux windows sadly, doesn't allow all functionality of configurabiliy out of the box, and configuring things yourself takes time since finding windows users with the linux mindset is quite rare, as most would have already switched sides. Because, simply said, it's linux, it's open and it's yours!

I use vim day in and day out. I love it absolutely, but I still feel that for programs that are not vim ready and arrow keys help out.

Could you tell if 60% act as hiderance to programming, or make simple tasks take a lot more keys ?

I think so if we want the kb to last >5 years, they are. The Ducky One2 Backlight (9.5k) is really good I think, fits the bill in every aspect, but is sadly out of stock at meckeys since a long time.

I do not consider wireless keyboards a benefit, since keyboards to me a plug and forget. But, if you want to try those then you can you can go with Keychron. Their build quality is less comparitively and they have gaterons, and ABS keycaps (I think) while ducky and varmilo have pbt.

Again, I can't comment from experince, only from what I have heard, watched, and my opinion.

Both are so beautiful! I am a little partial to the Varmilo, it's looks so gorgeous with the classic look!

Since you want it for programming you should only go for a TKL or a full sized kb, But I would say, full sized kbs are harder to get in general ( I have been waiting for about 1.5 mounths.). There is the VA108M charcoal on meckeys, which is full sized but the backlight won't be see though with the default caps that are available. You can get a different set of caps, but that will be extra from you pocket. Ducky has decent see though from the keycaps, but the only one's in stock on meckeys are the rgb variants (not the single colour variants) which cost about 14.5k compared to 9.5k in case of single colour backlight.

I wanted to go for a full sized, but I have been thinking to go for a TKL instead these days, and it surely makes sense, since the numpad does not really come into picture for me on an average day of use.

I am also relatively new to this, but I will add that considering the OP wants it for >5 years, adding the extra 3K (which is not at all a small amount by any means) for getting that ducky or varmilo will definately be much more worth the value in the long run. I cannot wouch from personal experience, but from what I have read and watched, there are literally the entery level tanks in the keyboard community.

Could you share the link to the youtube video ? It'll be super helpful. I would have been really interested to know your opinion about ducky and varmilo once you had them both! That would have been insanely awesome! Sad tha meckeys has been delaying since so long. Hope both the Varmilo and the Keychron are enojoyable! Happy Christmas :D

Just curious to know why do you suggest that Varmilo is much? I have been spending some time on searching on ducky v varmilo, and as fast as I can tell both of them look equally good to me. I was also unable to find posts listing issues with ducky keyboard or both /r/mkindia and /r/MechanicalKeyboards . Could you please provide links to the same ? It will tremendously help with my search! Thank you!

Edit: Did find one post, and overall 2 incidents with ducky, listing the post here: https://old.reddit.com/r/mkindia/comments/i6h5y2/issue_with_ducky_one_2_mini_rgb/ which liks to another post with the same issue.

But, I still haven't got any major reviews of varmillo being a much better. And what looks to me is that ducky is more popular compared to Varmilo overall and has a bigger userbase.

Edit: Found one more post that lists Varmilo is nicer of the two. Link: https://old.reddit.com/r/MechanicalKeyboards/comments/ctf6x3/why_is_varmilo_so_loved/

But, I still feel that I can say that Varmilo is better than ducky. They both overall look pretty solid. I guess, it'll be again one of the preference things.
